Happy New Year!

The two models I get the most messages about are Tayla and Sian, and they happen to also be two of my absolute favourite models to shoot with. I had a message from one of my patrons asking for more background information about how I find the models I shoot with, what it is like shooting with certain models and how I go about planning my shoots, so I thought this might be a good place to start.

Tayla and I "met" through PurplePort. She added me to her "want to work with" list, and I very quickly reciprocated. Tayla was only just starting out, and had only had a few shoots. I hope this doesn't come across as unprofessional, but I felt that in some of the images in her portfolio she had been let down by poor lighting and/or editing. We couldn't arrange a shoot for a while as Tayla had her university finals approaching, but there was going to be a small window between those finishing and Tayla going abroad for a few months as a dancer. Sadly for Tayla, she then injured herself which scuppered her plans but meant we had time for several shoots.

In our first shoot I very quickly discovered that Tayla really "got" me, and over the past 18 months we have become close friends. I feel comfortable experimenting with lighting, styles, etc. when I shoot with her, and she knows she can ask me to help her with anything she needs or would like to try. When it comes to planning our shoots, we often just let an idea develop. I may pick up a few outfit items off Vinted in advance, although Tayla also likes to rummage through my room full of outfits. And then we just go with the flow - the shoots don't necessarily always produce my/our best work, but they always help us develop our skills. And we always manage to fit a trip to McDonalds in for lunch 😂

Tayla is no longer shooting with any other photographers, despite many approaching her for shoots. Since meeting me, she has had two shoots where photographers tried very hard to push her levels, and she has decided that it's just not worth the hassle or risk anymore. She is earning enough through her dance work that she afford to turn down paid modelling work and it really saddens me that a couple of creepy guys have had this impact on her.

The above images are from our most recent shoot, back in December. Tayla wanted to give her partner a calendar as a present, and even though we have hundreds of images to choose from, she wanted to shoot brand new ones. We decided on appropriate themes for some of the months, and decided to fill in any gaps with lingerie and implied topless images. Tayla arrived with very little outfit items, knowing that she could spend some time pulling things out of my collection. And it turned out to be one of the most fun shoots I have ever done, as well as giving us content that we can drip feed out over the coming year lol.

What a fantastic write up, and equally fantastic images. I'm glad that despite a couple of bad experiences, Tayla hasn't packed it in completely. What's wrong with some people? These models are obviously putting themselves in quite a vulnerable situation, and are relying on the photographer's professionalism. You clearly have a nice rapport and a good working relationship. If that means this is now a one stop shop to see her work, then all the better, as you produce fantastic and varied sets. What a great Xmas present for her partner. I look forward to seeing some more (well, all 12 is possible) of the shoot, she’s stunning. Bravo.
