I posted recently to say that Meg had come down to mine for two days of shooting. I had hoped to do a lot more location work with her but the weather gods were not smiling on us for much of those two days. However, on the first afternoon she was here the forecast suggested we had a two-hour window between showers, so we journeyed out to a location that I have used a few times - there is a pedestrian tunnel underneath a dual carriageway, and a small wooded area. And in the five times I have shot there I think I have only every seen six other people in total! Perfect for shooting!

As we were walking across this field Meg spotted the purple and yellow flowers and asked if we could do a set there. It was mostly cloudy, but with definition to the clouds rather than just a blanket of grey nothingness, so perfect for shooting. Meg was already wearing the double denim, so we just took it from there!

Whilst shooting I had in my mind that I would be editing the set in black and white. But the moment I transferred them to my PC and saw them in colour I knew they had to be a colour set, but with a vintage vibe. All the toning was done in Lightroom before I popped them in Lightroom, and the retouching was fairly minimal - mainly removing a few blemishes. I felt that to use my normal retouching workflow would ruin the images, as Meg looks so natural in them. Then back into Lightroom for final tweaks. These days, I am finding with my natural light work that I am rarely using Photoshop for toning, in the way I do with a lot of my colour studio work.
