I have received a few questions asking about the equipment I use for my shoots, so I thought I would space this out as a series of posts.

I have decided to start off with this, the Neewer Photography Professional Heavy Duty Tripod Dolly, as I honestly believe it is one of the most useful, and for me essential, items of equipment I have purchased (apart from camera, lenses, etc). In fact, I loved my first one so much that I bought a second.

I use at least one of these on every shoot I do in my small home studio, as I have a lighting stand with boom mounted on one. I have found it invaluable for shooting in a smallish space, with low a  ceiling, as I can move my light around easily without lifting it, and also without the risk of hitting the ceiling or one of the light fittings in the room. It also helps paper roll backdrops to last longer, as there is less chance of accidentally tearing it with the end of a lighting stand. I also have another stand mounted on my second one - these days I am shooting with a continuous LED light sometimes, and it speeds the changeover up between sets if I already have it mounted and ready to wheel in.

I have the 2-inch wheel versions, and I have used these on hard wood laminate flooring as well as on carpeted, with no problem at all. It folds up very neatly into its own carry bag, and if I am shooting in another indoor location I will invariably take one with me. I recently spent a day shooting at a place called Burford Manor, a big, old manor house in Kent, and took one of my dollies with me, and it was perfect for wheeling light between the many rooms on the first floor, as well as quickly changing the position of a stuio light within a room once we had started shooting.
