Before anyone starts to believe that Zoro is the son of Shimotsuki Ushimaru based on Hyogoros comparisons I can tell you now that that is not the case. Eiichiro Oda said so himself in an SBS so this is not a spoiler or manga exclusive information.

This episode spent the whole time adapting half a chapter of one piece. That pacing was incredibly slow.

Shimotsuki Ushimaru was the Daimyo or governor of Ringo back when Odens dad was the shogun. He was the owner of the fox onimaru who later helped Kawamatsu in his flashback.

We're kinda doomed to this. We get an episode every week while Oda has a (much deserved) break every 4th week. It sucks but there's not much that they can do about the pacing

It’s called “Exaggeration”! It’s a word that is used for dramatic effect and in this case for saying that the pacing is really damn slow and I want (enter spoilers here) to happen soon and not in another year.

Oda said that there were no familial relations. It’s more of a situation like how Luffy is compared to Roger. This is probably having Zoro being compared to Ryuma the God of the Sword which is what Zoro will be at the end of the series.

Oda specifically said Ushimaru isn't his father, that's all. "He isn't his father" and "he isn't related to him at all" are 2 completely different things. He's only said the former, which still leaves some possibilities there (grandfather, uncle, etc).

Yee, he could definitely be a "descendent" of Ryuma and the Shimotsuki lineage. But Ushimaru is definitely not Zoro's father.
