Gajeel turning into iron shadow dragon mode is cool and all but that was just so random from the fact that he just absorbed Rogue's shadow magic. If it's that simple can't he just absorbed all the dragon slayers magic and use it for himself but now that I think about it that would be too OP.

I mean same could be said for Natsu when he ate Laxus' lightning. But yeah the series really should have put more rules to the whole Dual Element mode. But I just kinda headcanon it as they can only do it once with another dragon slayer.

All the final day battles are some of my favorites, Gajeel vs Rogue, Laxus vs Jura, Erza vs Kagura and Erza vs Minerva. Like I think it's cool that this tournament is arguably the B plot and I still find it just as interesting as what Natsu and Lucy's team is doing.

Well the plot on Natsu's side (while they were in the " Abyss Palace") kind of fell victim to being somewhat dragged out beyond what was necessary. They turned single chapters of content into full 20min episodes by extending the fights and adding comedy and fanservice etc..
