Honestly, it's surprising you misunderstood Fairy Law when Erza clearly said that it only targets those who the casters sees as an enemy. Having a good or bad heart doesn't matter. I guess you were just tired when you recorded :D

Yeah I think thats one of the reasons why moms are always dead in anime. A mother wants to protect her child and wants to keep them out of harm. She pretty much symbolizes peace and maternal care. A mother is always the one who actually can set things right again. Without a mother there is no one close who they can go to cry in case something bad happened. And grief changes us all, and the loss of a mother is one of the greatest grief that can be caused. So to increase character development and to get rid off the "quick fix" its easier to kill off moms. In Lucys case she probably never would have ended up in Fairy Tail because she would have never run away from home. And even if she would it wouldnt be the same because she would always have a home back there with her mom waiting for her. While now Fairy Tail is literally her life and home. There is even a small thing going on about mothers having a death flag because of their hairstyle called "hair of death".

While i do like the sub, its scenes like this where the dub really shines, especially natsu's voice when he yells or fights, the dub actor does a phenomenal job.

Exactly communication is key! And not that hard to do, legit 5 mins is all it takes. But yeah this keeps happening far to often now and of course her kiss but people like Cleven Anthony make excuses for her like it’s okay! 🤷🏾‍♂️
