Never watched the anime, but I have read the manga. It’s a fun guilty pleasure with very likable characters. However, it is the epitome of “ I’m super outclassed, but I’m still going to win with the power of friendship and pull this out of my ass!” Seriously though it’s never well written, they just “try harder” and win. But like I said, it’s very fun, which is why I keep it in my collection.

To quote Joseph: no no oh my God. Honestly, if you wanted a long shonen, Gintama was the way to go. It's not like I particularly hate FT, I've read the manga until the very end and I'm still reading its sequel, if you can call it a sequel (more like a side story). In the beginning it's really good tho' and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Oh well at least she and many fans who watch her can genuinely enjoy the first half. I'm getting ptsd thinking of the second half. Who knows though, since she's not as picky as a lot of peeps including myself maybe she'll enjoy all of it, ultimately up to herself to find out what to make of the show. LMAO, I was not expecting Fairy Tail. It's pretty entertaining for a while until it just becomes unbearable to watch lol. For a long runner I would have honestly gone for something like Yu Yu Hakusho,(same author as HxH). Black Clover, Or maybe even Gintama if it suits your tastes lol.

I have read the manga and watched the anime (Until I dropped it around halfway) in my opinion this show is pretty much bottom of the barrel to the point where it makes something awful like Boruto seem decent. The writing is pretty unbearable and every arc always end the same exact way. It doesn't help that they changed animation studios partway through the series and basically becomes a slideshow. But, I know everyone has different tastes so I hope you can enjoy it.

Damn the Black Clover slander in these comments are real, fairy tail rip off? The only similarity is they use magic, just wondering if these people get further than 20 chapters? The similarities to Naruto and HxH are more blatant and people wouldn't call that a rip off. The same criticisms I heard when people saw episode 1 are the only things I hear today with little substance.

Fairy Tail is a very fun show that has real emotional moments and has one of the best and most unique soundtracks to any anime, the character designs are sometimes really weird but you're used to that having watched One Piece. There is quite a bit of fanservice but i didn't pay any attention to it on my first watch, i only noticed on my second watch since i was trying to immerse myself in the story at the time. It suffers mostly from weekly anime syndrome where the animation quality is often reduced to meet deadlines but for really hype episodes they will step up their animation game, same as with Bleach and Naruto. Definetely worth giving Fairy Tail a go, gotta see if you like it for yourself since people usually talk about either only positives or only negatives

I was not expecting FT I was hoping it be Gintama lol this anime has quite a..... reputation as you can see in the comments. From my own experience, I enjoyed it at first, but it just wasn’t getting interesting after +250 episodes of watching it and reading the manga after. But I hope you enjoy it!!

I like fairytail it is a nice shonen. A lot of people don´t like fairy tail, because of the bad story but the reason i like it in two words : awesome characters. Same for one piece oda is a great story teller but this is not the reason im watching it - i just fell in love with the characters. So i hope u will enjoy it :)

This is actually incorrect information bleach’s sells are pretty good for it being finished. The bleach mobile game is also doing amazing on the Japanese App Store not only that but there has been talks about a CC2 bleach game. But like most things bleach related this is just a rumor that is highly unlikely. But bleach merchandise sells are amazing for it being over, I wouldn’t say for a fact that the anime is or isn’t coming back because there is no proof pointing towards either direction.

I think it's because some people dropped Bleach soon after the current arc, but for Fairy Tail it was a highly expected second season going downhill. And in terms of arc, Bleach doesn't connect its arcs that much (it does, but to a lower degree), where Fairy Tail season 1 arcs are connected. So to some extend, at least in my personal experience, dropping bleach was like dropping a new anime or skipping, and dropping Fairy Tail was like a kick to the balls

I’ve never left a comment before but watching you react to FT is such a pleasant surprise! I’m hoping my fingers crossed that it’ll be a continuous journey as the anime is pretty light hearted. Admittedly, there are other longer animes for you to watch with better plots but I do like the characterisation of most of the FT characters. I find most of them likeable. Hope that the hordes of hate comments/dislikes won’t turn you off from the anime though! :)

First season of Fairy Tail is pretty good, sadly later on, it turns to absolute bottom of the barrel garbage (story wise). I used to love Fairy Tail, it was one of my gateway animes aswell as the first manga I read after I caught up on the anime and I definetely understand how people can like it. But i won't let nostalgia hold me back from criticizing it. First, the plot after the first half is absolute garbage, admittedly, you don't really watch FT for the plot so I guess that doesn't matter that much. The "Power of Friendship" where characters win fights they aren't supposed to also ruins the excitement and fun since no matter how strong the enemy is, the mc will always win and therefor almost every arc ends the same. The ending is absolutely one of the worst and most bullshit things I've seen in any anime/manga, I won't spoil for people who haven't watched it, but lets just say that they built something up for hundreds of chapters and episodes and completely threw it out the window and this is probably the biggest reason why I went from a FT lover to being almost the opposite. Even the mangaka himself came out and apologised for the horrendous plot towards the end. The show however, has pros aswell. First, the characters, even though I don't like the show I love a lot of the characters. Almost all of them are memorable and have their unique personalities and quirks. Some of the fights are really enjoyable and hype to watch, even though you already know how they are going to turn out. If you just turn your brain off and disregard the story and bullshit powerups, they are still pretty enjoyable. Sadly that's about all the good things the show has going for it. I do hope SMF will enjoy watching it, just don't expect a story anywhere even close to stories like HxH, One Piece or FMAB, but if you take it for what is it can still be pretty fun, at least the earlier parts, I may tune in every now and again, however, sadly I probably won't be watching most of it with you.

Agreed. I actually dropped it during the last arc in the manga. The problems just kept compounding over time. There were too many character "deaths" where the character would come back the next chapter, to the point where I just didn't care anymore. And they definitely do use the "power of friendship" troupe far too often. You're totally right about the characters being the strong point of this series. All in all, there's some stuff to like, but it's mediocre at best.

Nah, the manga is pretty bad aswell. I wouldn't say one is better than the other since it depends on what you prefer, watching anime or reading manga, but in my opinion. having both read and watched, I prefer the manga only due to the excessive censoring in the anime when it comes to blood, impalement or the ecchi. In the manga people get stabbed, shot/impaled straight through their bodies on several occasions, which only makes me more pissed of when it doesn't really matter and the character is somehow fine and survives whatever happens.

Most people are not saying its bad its that towards the end it becomes worse the begging of this show and middle were fun to watch but after that it becomes a lame friendship one punch man where natsu is just one hitting practically everyone he fights

My main issue with FT is its fan service and it's repetitiveness. It's just too much anime boobs when its not needed. If it's sprinkled in here and there for comedic relief that's fine but its overdone in FT. It truly was a shame since his previous work, Rave Master (check out the manga if you haven't already) was amazing.

This anime will always be one of my favorites. The music is awesome, the characters are diverse and there are a crazy number of feels in this show. Granted, some arcs are better than others (as with any similar anime) but overall it is a really fun show to watch. This was the second anime I ever watched and I might not be as big a fan of anime as I am if I hadn't experienced all the laughter and tears that this show gave me back then.

Uh...by who? Ranker.com has it as the 9th highest ranked anime, IMDB has it ranked 37th and Myanimelist has it as the 21st most popular anime (not best just most popular). It may not be the most amazing anime ever but trying to deny this series any of the credit that it earned among fans is just rude and incorrect.

You should definitely continue, I am pretty sure you will enjoy Fairy Tail, Fairy Tail is good despite what people say about it, most of them are just salty because it isn't "mature" enough, or that the plot is bad, but it's not as bad as it sounds. :)

I feel like alot of the hate fairy tail gets is because it can be seen as the epitome of "the power of friendship". And I'd say the series has the same vibe as one piece. A constant positive vibe with a serious backplot. Either way this is a great anime to watch for fun.

Frieza just so you know the first 48 episodes of fairy tail are on netflix. and the opening does reveal a few characters you havent seen yet if you dont want that spoiled. but theres alot of openings over time so I do recommend watching them eventually. they dont spoil much of the content they only reveal certain characters so I think its okay to watch them

While I do believe Fairy Tail is never better than good and enjoyable, and that it does go downhill rather drastically later on in the series, its music always was fire. So much hype music.

my issue with it (I dont say i hate it or hate people for reacting to it like others) is that the end of the Grand Magic Games arc kinda killed it for me. Wont say why but had to do with the power scaling with natsu. It went well but randomly he became useless mid way through it felt like. And killed the whole feel of it to me.
