My vote is for dub. And I'm a sub watcher. But this is the rare case which I prefer the Dub wayyy more. Don't get me wrong, the sub is good too. But if you're gonna watch any anime in dub then this is one of the best for it. And I'd prefer if you watch it in dub.

I'm fine with either dub/sub for FMAB (I'm usually sub only). 1 point though, since you tend to talk quite a bit during reactions you end up talking over the dub quite a bit. Personally I've seen FMAB enough times that I still know what's happening even when I can't hear the dialogue, but that might not be the case for others. But overall I think you should stick with whichever you preferred.

Dub is just overall better for reactions. It’s a solid dub with great VA’s and because it’s in a language you can understand it will make it easier to talk and react to without missing something which happens often when people reacts to subs

I know ppl who always prefer anime subbed as its default value, and there are plenty of them (i like to consider them in the majority). it's surprising that the votes were so close which leads me to believe that the dub might be better than the sub. A strong case for the dub is also made by watchmojo in top 10 dubbed anime list.

I feel like the point of the poll was lost if you're asking the question again when we voted already and the sub won. I mean you say the vote was 50/50 but it wasn't, if you actually take the percentage you will see the result was actually 51/49 in favor of the sub. I just don't see the point of asking the question again. If you wanted to watch the dub over the sub that'd be different, however the sub is better.

Personally I prefer sub but the dub for FMAB is really great. For a reaction I do think sub is better because not having the text to read can make it harder for the viewers to follow what is going on, especially for those who haven't seen it before, due to it being hard to hear what they are saying when you are talking at the same time. However, pick whatever you prefer, I'll most likely watch either way.

You should rewatch the same episodes in dub/sub to get a feel for which got the emotion across to you more I think. LIke episode 2 in the sub to see if there is a difference. I personally hope you choose sub, I think dubs are always cringe.

I originally thought dub would be better (it's my personal preference). But if you're going to commentate/monologue while you're watching, then you might not be able to hear dialogue, and dialogue is pretty important in this series. Then again, most sub formats for FMAB are pretty bad. The version that you used doesn't keep the subs on the screen long enough to read properly. Both sub and dub have their own drawbacks. Up to you

So the reason why the first episode felt all over the place was because it is a brotherhood exclusive story (aka it didn't happen in the manga). The reason why it was action oriented with little introduction was show that they know how to handle this series (imo). They did this because FMA actually has another anime that was produced and aired in 2003 (Brotherhood is 2009). The difference between these two is that 2003 came out while the manga was still ongoing. It eventually caught up to the manga and surpassed it. With blessing from the manga writer, the anime writers basically continued the story and took it in their own direction. Brotherhood is the version that focuses on telling the manga story pretty much 1:1, with some exceptions (like the first episode).

You're going to have to pick a side at some point so just choose the version that you feel you're going to enjoy the series more with, I and many others that prefer this dub are also people I imagine that believe sub is the clear winner most of the time but with this one, we believe the english one is more suitable, anyway up to you :)

I think sub is way better, I'm brazilian and IDK if there's other patreons from Brazil that think as same, so, the times at you're speaking with the dubbed version it's a little hard for me, but, that just my opinion.

I’m a sub anime fan, it just always seems more natural to me but I just can’t watch this sub while knowing how the dub sounds, I just honestly prefer it more, however I was reading the comments in this episode and lot of people said that you might miss dialogue while speaking with it being dub so I personally hope that you choose dub and with captions so that’s nothing’s missed. Even tho all reaction channels miss when it’s subbed regardless!!!! I’m talking to you comment section!!!!! Hopefully you choose dub, it’s a good one lots of people like and it’ll be a nice change of pace. Lastly just choose which you feel like you’ll enjoy the show more in, after all if we were watching this just to watch the anime we can do that on our own, but we here for your reaction. This anime is my absolute favorite, I watch it a few times every year! I’ve watched it in both dub and sub and I personally prefer the dub. This is one of the VERY few anime that I can say that about but I feel like there are more emotions in the voices in the dub, especially with Ed. But if you decide to watch the subbed version here, I recommend that you watch it in dubbed by yourself if you feel like you have the time. It would be a shame if you missed it because I think that the english voice actors actually make this into a better anime.

Fma b is such a complicated show , it took my two times watching the dub to fully follow everything, watch the dub. (Try to find a dub version with subtitles for the non english speakers) but dub all the way.

As someone who isn't a native english speaker, it's actually easier for me to follow the dub version. The sub version has some weird or questionable translations (at least the one SMF watched) which makes it a lot more difficult to follow the dialogue or story.

I've watched both and are fine with either though I think I prefer the Japanese cast. FMA: Brotherhood is a fantastic entryway anime in my opinion. It has a lot of universal humor but also serious themes, there's not many hard to understand names, it's a Germanic setting and the characters are endearing.

Since I've seen so little of the sub, I just realized that King Bradley has the same Japanese voice as Dragon from One Piece. In terms of being able to follow along with the tons of dialogue that acts as the exposition of this show, dub is better just for you to follow along and understand.

There is a big problem with brotherhood version. Its that it is really hard to get a hang of if you dont know the first version of this show. Cause its completely out of order and you dont get why people do the things they do. But it will be better past the half point though. But i just hate the start of this version of the show

So I really hope that you decide to go with the sub. The dub for this anime is pretty good, but the dub just has this lack of emotion compared to the sub which really breaks it for me. The same scene in episode 1 and episode 2 where Elric was attaching the soul to the suit of armor it just felt much more emotional in episode 1 due to sub voices just being so exceptional. The music also goes so much better with the japanese voices/language. There's also some other reasons why going sub is better - you do like to talk and comment when things happen in your reactions, when we have to listen to a dubbed voice where the volume is turned down we can sometime miss words that are spoken, this is especially true for people who don't have english as their first language. Having the subtitles to read while you speak just makes it so much easier. I would love it if you on your spare time could just open up episode 2 dubbed and subbed simultaneously and just compare the scenes when they attempt human transmutation, hopefully you'll see there the difference in emotion in sub vs dub. Also if I don't remember incorrectly, the 1st episode is a filler meant to foreshadow events that happends later since everything is connected from start to end - but the manga starts pretty much at episode 3 with some pieces of episode 2 being shown here and there.

Some of the voice actors in the Dub are perfect!!! It feels really real. But, still it doesnt supreme the Sub! The voice actor of Huse for example can never be crossed! So my vote goes for sub

It's a little odd to me that you thought the commercial break bits were weird. One Piece has had them as well, right from the start, and even changed them up from time to time (the wanted posters, the scenes of each character's signature items, etc.). Anyway, I am glad you are deciding on Sub vs Dub yourself. We get really passionate about it, in this community, but they are both excellent and you are the one who is watching, after all.

I'm just gonna say it straight. Anybody who is telling you to watch the opening of the anime on the very first episode, hell, the first three episodes, is a moron. Openings will always spoil something. Wait it out until you get the foundation of the show if you're trying to go in as blind as possible.

Just so you know, this isn't like One Piece. Alchemy doesn't work like Devil Fruits, and the codenames don't mean that's their only power. It's a specialty at best. Fullmetal refers to the prosthetic limbs. You are capable of doing anything in alchemy than another person can.

I am not sure how I'd feel about rewatching FMA but the openings are some of the best I've seen. I advise you to not skip any of them even if you have to go thru some spoilers. Their just that good!

The dub wasn't as bad as many I've heard because the actor's voices actually fit their characters but it's still a bit too cheesy for my liking. The lines sound canned and appear to lack any genuine emotion, even Edward's lines during the transmutation. It certainly didn't help that I had to keep my finger on the volume controls the entire episode so I could constantly adjust the volume since the characters were often far quieter than SMF. And whenever she spoke during the audio I would completely miss what they were saying in the episode. Worst part is that it appears many of the comments state their personal opinion about which is better (sub vs dub war never ends) and not which actually works better in a reaction and review format. The only way I see dubs being doable in a reaction format is if SMF can turn on closed captions in addition.

Hey, Jamie, I just want you to know, while I would prefer the dub, if you feel like you need to watch the sub to keep the childish elitists from leaving in a temper tantrum, I understand. If you have to move forward with the sub version, I blame them, not you. In fact, at this point, I'd say it'd be better to go with the sub. The dub fans don't plan on leaving if it's sub, but if you chose dub, we already know a bunch of the sub fans plan on leaving.

Watch the sub if for no other reason because it comes with subtitles. If you're not watching the dub on dvd or bluray you won't have subtitles and subtitles are really important for watching with a reactor.

I say the more safe option is too just go with subs since there is gonna be more viewers who have grown accustom to subs and it would probably be awkward for them to start watching something in dub. Besides, you can never really go wrong with subs.
