Execution of Hody nothing reasoning was bad. The concept wasn't bad but need a way better explanation to it. (I think that the HxH writer would of done that better since he like to explore deeper issues) There is a reason why Hody is not a very popular character. This is one of the few times that Oda didn't make a good backstory.

When Zoro called Hyozou (Octopus Man) a "frog", he clarified that Hyozou is the "proverbial frog in a well". Recall when Zoro first fought Mihawk at the Baratie. Mihawk said this of Zoro: "Frog in the well.. Unaware of how big the world is..." The parallels here are great. When Zoro first fought Mihawk, he thought that he stood a chance against the World's Greatest Swordsman, but he utterly failed. Zoro was the frog in the well then. Now skip to Fishman Island where Hyozou thinks he can beat Zoro, and Zoro retorts with nearly the same exact line after Hyozou's defeat. Shows how much Zoro has grown as a swordsman, and also how much he's learned from Mihawk.

Hard to tell if you caught the subtitle, or if you found out in your editing, but King Neptune was sorry that the Fishmen couldn't keep up their end of the promise to Joyboy. Recall Robin's reading of the poneglyph in the Sea Forest. Between 567 and 568, it's definitely worth rewatching. I even did so when I first watched One Piece and reread the manga chapters for those episodes to help my theorycrafting on Joyboy, Noah, Fishman Island, the Promise, etc. It's super interesting how the Sea Kings can communicate only with Princess Shirahoshi/her descendants who have her power. Not even other fishmen/merfolk have the ability to even hear the Sea Kings let alone talk to them. Yet, Monkey D. Luffy and Gol D. Roger can hear them, to which the Sea Kings expressed disbelief. Strange stuff. Everytime I think about it, the gears in my head start spinning trying to think of theories.

She completely missed the part where the seakings were talking about Luffy being able to understand them and how Roger could too in the past. She probably didn't even get why Roger's flashback was shown. She keeps reacting to useless stuff and shouting over important dialogue like when Roger was shown, instead of listening to what he's saying, she shouts "Oh Roger!". Please stfu for one moment and listen to what's happening. You say you catch this stuff while editing, but we aren't here to see what you'll catch later on off-camera... I know I sound mean, but I've been noticing this for a long time- you speaking over important stuff. I would prefer it if you paused the video while letting us know your thoughts

Florin

Not sure if you caught it while editing but the part with Roger was pretty important. Basically, Luffy can hear the Voice of all things, just like Roger.

Hody has the perfect motivation because it's real. Hody is what he is because of the society that he grew up in made him. Just like most real world racists nothing was done to him he was just raised to be racist.

Sherwin Lui

I think if Oda push it more on religious angle it would of been better than using the nothing motivation. (Oda was pushing that angle when Hody said that heaven has chosen them to be better than humans) Or he could of said I don't know why he hates but he just does. And go into detail about that. Or fear of what would of happen if humans and fishman do get along.

Saleem Ali

Luffy could hear the sea king's voices like Roger

Yeet

How can I watch the google drive link on my phone?

Anonymous

wait... arlong isn't dead . he is imprisoned by the marines. didn't hatchen said this when he met up with the strawhats again.

Blueno

Red Hawk never made any sense to me either. Fire is steam under water. And clearly Luffy had his whole arm in water with that hit... OP logic I guess.

When you consider how strong the pirates in the new world are, Jinbe's strength is definitely needed!

Daniel Turner

Did you notice that Luffy no longer gets small after gear third

Frederic Faddoul

"They've been through so much, I don't think a blood transfusion will hurt them" My thoughts exactly, and like, Chopper should've been more worried about his needle breaking on Jinbei's hard skin :P

GoldArthur

When I first watched this, I was also dissapointed at the Hody reveal, but, now that I've rewatched, I think I see what they were trying to do, and why it was so shocking to Fukaboshi. Hody, and the new fishman pirates, are exactly like they Tenryuubito. Hody's constant references to "the heavens" is what really drove this point home to me. They aren't just inherently evil. They've been raised to believe those things from the very beginning. They don't have any reason, to hate or dislike humans (or other people and races in the Tenryuubito's case), they just grew up, genuinely believing that they were superior, and that the others are lesser. It's a lesson that has two meanings to it: 1) The horrible and inhumane attitude of the Tenryuubito isn't exclusive to any race, culture, or location. They exist because of their environment. 2) Because the Tenryuubito are creatures of environment and not inherent nature, they can be reformed. It's also for this reason, that I'm beginning to realize that Helmeppo is a more important character than we might initially think. He represents the hope that the Tenryuubito can be changed.

Sherwin Lui

That really not called nothing but that is more like tradition or religious angle to justify their own position. Hody should of been sounding like Ebony Maw(a religious fanatic) from Avengers Infinity War. Hody dialogue and approach sounds more like generic villain. His lack of charisma as a character also didn't help. Oda concept was always there but the execution could of been better.

Monk

Hody motives and ideology is so realistic to the world we live in, this is why I love how Oda writes his antagonists, none of them are similar in there motives and character ideology and thought process.

Distraction

True, but Hody in particular comes off as too generic. There's a lot of people like him IRL: racist, hypocritical and dumb. He didn't quite fit the role of an interesting leader, or antagonist in my opinion.

Monk

You are kidding right? this is why Hody is a very powerful character, real people don't need personal experience to spread hate and prejudice, basically Hody have an ideology of and extremist/ terrorist.

bLuGhOsT

Omg the piano rendition of "we Go!" is so beautiful
