One genuine complaint I see about this arc is the power scaling. Hody is basically an "upgraded" Arlong. By this point in the series, Zoro should be able to take him out quickly. Well before the room filled with water and even while under the water. On top of which, the others besides Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji are still pretty useless in combat.

On how Otohime gave birth to Shirahoshi or how Neptune got her pregnant in the first place. Fish don’t reproduce the same as humans so it make sense that mermaids and mermen don’t either. The female will lay eggs In water and then the father will fertilize them. No sex or birth involved.

Maybe it helps in the future: the word Arlong used when talking to Jinbe (aniki) is generally used in the Japanese mafia when you address a superior you respect. Brother/Big brother is a loose translation but still correct. Also, you probably already know but fishmen are still fish and don't reproduce like humans

An important thing to understand for when you watch anime in general. In SOME PARTS of Japan, the age of consent is significantly lower than in North America. Not saying that you should change your moral stance on it, but it’s important to be mindful that each country has their own laws and standards!

However... in the SBS from volume 10 one person asked about this matter, and Oda stated that fishmen (as well as fishwomen) don't lay eggs, they are still mammals. That makes sense, considering there exist people in the world of One Piece that are hybrids between humans and fishmen. The question did not mention mermaids and mermen, as they weren't showed until Kokoro made her appearance. But, once again, she was able to reproduce with a man, so I'd say that should also answer that question.

Sanji is 21...I don't get the whole "creepy" deal when you date people in your 30s in their 20s. I'd get if he was 25 and she was 16 that would be really creepy. However, he has no chance with her either way. LOL
