whoever said thrillerbark and sky island is the worse arc is dumb 90% of the communtiy loves sky island and people just dont like moria in thriller bark the rest is fine but its widely considered fishmen island is the worst arc

I used to not like the fishman island arc, but upon rewatching it, it think it's an extremely underrated arc, in one piece. Story telling wise this arc hits on so much real world themes and issues, and really just displays how great of a writer Oda is.

there will be some backstories in this arc. Try to pay close atention to them when they come and empathize with the characters

Fishman Island is amazing, so I'm glad you're not allowing some people's opinions to cloud your judgement regarding it. Yes, I understand why some of them think it's not that great(mostly persons who are only looking forward to fights) but it has a lot of world building(and more) that I personally think it's the best feature of OP

It is all depend on what the person looking for in show. Like if all they look for is just serious and bad ass in One Piece. Some arcs might disappoint them. But if don't always need that from it, they would be okay with it. They also say the same thing with arcs that they consider good too. It the same type of emotion.

Fishman Island arc isn't bad persay, but just the disparity between being announced and actually getting there created a lot of hype that honestly it could never deliver, at least in many people's opinions. I enjoyed it for what it was, however.

Yeah maybe Sky Island, Fishman Island and Thriller Bark is some of the worst Arcs, but I believe so far that there has not been a bad arc yet. There has been outstanding arcs. Like Marineford , Ennis Lobby and Impel Down. Even Nami's arc was good. Every arc has some things some people can't stand. I did not like Kurahadol (Captian Kuro) and some people says he was the only good part about (Syrup village) Usopp arc.

The backstories for this arc for the characters are very good.(outside one or two characters) One of the things that Oda kept writing well after the time-skips are most of his backstories for his characters.

The 1st half isn't that bad at all it's when it starts focusing more on Hordy and his crew is when it starts feeling really dragged out. But decide for yourself. Personally, it's one of my worse arcs cause I had so much anticipation and hype built up for the new world.

You hit the nail on the head. People just had their expectations set too high. Not every arc can be a Water 7 or Marinford. Marineford was likely the halfway point of the series, which means that the only arc that likely to top it is gonna be the final arc.
