We enjoyed the watch party of episode 1 so much that I decided to make this a full series for the premium show tier.  Here's episode 2!

Yaaaaay! Really appreciate you recording this. The second episode was wild.

You've never watched Game of Thrones??? Oh man, its so good though! While you can watch this show without it, you are definitely missing a lot of references and relevant information. It does not explain a fair few things because it assumes you know from the other show. The Targaryens are incestual, thats why they all have silver hair, basically. They married within their own bloodlines so they didn't have to share or dilute their power with others....yeah, its gross. There have been some instances of that in real life medieval times unfortunately. Viserys I Targaryen (the King) and Aemma Arryn (his now deceased wife) were first cousins. As far as the pulling out things, two reasons: 1. The point of marriages in this time period is almost solely for forging alliances and solidifying power. They want heirs. This world is dangerous. People die often. The more male heirs the better so they can continue the family line. 2. Even in real life modern society, pulling out is very risky statistically and often ends up being unsuccessful over the long term. Not exaggerating, look up the statistics. Even the...early liquids can have sperm in them, prior to the...finishing. I won't go into more detail there lol. Most of my friends that have told me they relied on this method, 90% of them have kids now lol, and didn't mean to. lol. But yeah, the more kids the better in this world. Also, as far as the Game of Thrones finale season, a big part of that was 1. The books were not finished, so they had to basically come up with an ending based on a few notes and bullet points essentially. 2. The showrunners rushed the ending because they got some big contracts (like a Star Wars movie, which they later got fired from). Both HBO and the author of the books wanted more seasons, but they wanted out, so they did multiple seasons worth of content in one season, and a shorter season than normal at that. That said, 80% of the series is better than 90% of tv shows, so it is still worth a watch if you like this show. The ending wasn't necessarily bad, it was just rushed. This show should not have that issue because 1. The book it is based on IS finished, so they can just do the ending that has already been written. 2. The showrunners are actually big fans of the books and world and have been for decades. The author handpicked them this time and is far more involved directly this time. So it should not be an issue.

Great clarifications NebulaNova! I think the main challenge this show will have compared to GoT is that most of its main characters are not very easy to like - save for maybe Rhaenyra so far - as opposed to characters like Arya, Dani or Tyrion that made you immediately want to root for them.

Good episode. "Team Don't Choose" haha I like that. I might be on that team too, at least right now. I don't really want to choose this early in the game. Yes there's some disturbing stuff about this series, like there was with GOT, But I was relieved that this episode was not as graphic in certain ways as Game of Thrones (most of it-I can't remember if the last season was) or the last episode of this show was. Hopefully, that's a trend that will continue. Also, I'm pretty sure the king's hand, Otto Hightower, is the Lizard from the Amazing Spider-Man and No Way Home!

Oh yeah! You’re right about Otto Hightower being the lizard. LOL. He looks better without the scales. 😂 I worry about just how much more graphic this series will be but I have to admit I am starting to really get invested in the storyline!
