Character Introduction: Xerxes (Patreon)

Global intelligence agencies have learned of the existence of what appears to be a young human female within the aliens’ ranks. Referring to herself as Xerxes, she has been reported visiting prisoners in captured cities and reassuring them that the war will be over soon. She does not elaborate further. GARDA officers speculate that she may be nothing more than an illusion or ploy to placate the captured human population. 

Interestingly, facial recognition software has identified Xerxes as Commander Pelletier of the Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, the first to fall to the alien invasion. Although body language experts support this conclusion, it is notable that Xerxes appears significantly younger than the commander at the time of the attack.

When officers of the US Military were questioned on the subject of Commander Pelletier, there was universal dismissal of the notion that she could be Xerxes. Pelletier was described as loyal, steadfast, and as having a brilliant tactical mind. However, a more nuanced perspective was obtained from her subordinates. While describing her in generally positive terms, they did not seemed surprised at the notion of her treachery. One soldier in particular, when asked if he believed that Pelletier was loyal, replied: “Probably, but I’m not sure what to”.
