Here's the full length reaction to X-Men: Apocalypse! I knew that Oscar Isaac was the villain before going into the movie, but I truly forgot I was watching him on screen (I imagine I would recognize him more if I watched the movie again). Enjoy!

So excited for the next one! Logan is gonna blow your mind :)

Jedi Mandalore (Dylan)

I like aspects of this film from the opening which was really violent to the Quicksilver scene that was just amazing. But everything else was pretty mixed. Nightcrawler looked the part he was amazing in appearance but I still preferred him in X2 in terms of personality. We actually see Jubilee who was a big character in the Animated Series but in this she's very much just an extra not even an actual character which is a shame. She did show up in a really cool advert promoting the School which even has a cameo of Stan Lee at the end - https://youtu.be/_kniQrk9jw0 Love the whole look of Wolverine in this film from the helmet to the belt it's all pulled from the comics when he was being held as Weapon X. As you recall from Days of Future Past Logan from 2023 went back into the body of his 1970s counterpart so the Wolverine we see in this movie is from the 1980s and has no memory of stuff like the events of Days of Future Past. He wouldn't have any memory of anything past this moment anyways as Weapon X wiped his mind. Also this is pretty much his X-Men Origins moment where he escapes Weapon X and runs into the wild so this is an example of how this new timelines changes things surrounding characters origins post 1970s. The events we saw in X-Men Origins: Wolverine never took place but Logan still became a subject under Weapon X and then escaped in 1983 and lived his life until joining the X-Men around the same time he did in the original films. I believe X-Men origins is mostly set in 1981. So it's similar but also different as well, no weird Deadpool or Sabretooth being Logan's brother etc. Also no de-aged Charles coming to rescue the Mutants. And finally I do love the ending where we see the X-Men wearing some really amazing outfits that so far have been the closest thing to the comics at least what most people think of when they picture the X-Men. Cyclops has his iconic blue suit with that Y looking strap across his chest with the X-Men symbol with hints of yellow while Mystique is finally wearing cloths while in her normal form. Her outfit looking very much like her comic one with the white on gold, Whole idea of a nude Mystique is really only a thing in the movies she always wears clothes in the comics. But these outfits were only designed for a few minutes on screen so I would love to see outfits like these design for a full X-Men film.

Happy you enjoyed this one. I have always enjoyed it as well. It is a little cheesy at times, and repetitive in hitting the same beats as pretty much all the X-Men films tend to hit or most of them anyway. This movie was still fun. Also, I will never not enjoy the tragedy that is Magneto. It is to bad it has taken so long to get mutants into the MCU. Can you imagine what they will do with the ballad of Magneto and his children, so much trauma in that family. Like father, like daughter, Wanda’s been thru just as much as her father. Yes, to answer your questions, Magneto is the father of the Maximoff twins Wanda & Pietro in the comics and in the animated series. Magneto also has a daughter younger than the twins with a different woman. Her name is Lorna Dane aka “Polaris” Her abilities are very similar, if not the same as her father’s, and when she uses her abilities a green glow, similar to Wanda’s red glow, projects out of her hands and body, and her hair is also green. There was a show called The Gifted that was on for 2 seasons, it was about the generation after Scott and Jean. Lorna/Polaris was a main character on that show. So, because of the whole movie rights belonging to different movie studios thing, the twins were “split up” There was some kind of loophole or something that allowed the MCU to use the twins because in addition to X-Men they were also Avengers in the comics and or a deal was made about the MCU keeping Wanda, and Fox Studios keeping Pietro/Peter. Hopefully, we will see the House of M rise in the MCU one day with Magneto sitting on his throne and ALL 3 of his children and his grandchildren Tommy & Billy, will be by his side ready to rule the MCU! And of course Professor X and his Uncanny X-Men will be there to stop them 😜

The line you thought you had heard Charles say before, when Erik asks about the thought of people coming to take his “children” away and what Charles does when it wakes him up in the night… And Charles replies “I feel a great swell of pity for the poor soul that comes to my school looking for trouble” You were right, Ian McKellen and a Patrick Stewart said the same lines to each other at the end of the very first movie while playing chess in Erik’s plastic prison.

So yeah this movie is good, but definitely not as good as Days of Future Past. For Mutant abilities, they are all born with the actual mutation in their genes, but they don't often manifest until later. Jean in the first X-Men movie mentioned the abilities don't actually show themselves until periods of life like puberty, often in cases of extreme stress. So Logan is up next! Now keep in mind you're pretty much nearing the end of the Fox X-Men franchise. So.... anything could happen. I'm really excited for you to see Logan, Addie! It's such a wonderful movie. See you then!

The Stan Lee cameo in this movie was very special, not only did he cameo, but so did his wife, Joan Boocock Lee. She is the lady that he is holding when Apocalypse is launching all the nuclear weapons into space.
