Happy Friday, Addie. Quantum of Solace (2008) looks like an awesome sequel to Casino Royale (2006). I'm looking forward to watching this movie, soon.

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 I think that this is the only Daniel Craig James Bond movie that I haven't seen. So, this will be a first time watch for me as well. Definitely looking forward to your "Skyfall" reaction, as that's one of my favorite James Bond movies. Looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

Wow, wasn't expecting this today! As I'm sure you surmised, this is sort of a coda to "Casino Royale"... and it's pretty much universally considered the weakest of Daniel Craig's 5 outings, though it still has its moments and also lays some of the groundwork for the next movies. Oddly enough, this is also the shortest Bond movie ever -- even as all the other Craig outings are the longest. This is also the only movie where Bond never introduces himself as "Bond. James Bond." Honestly, you might like some of the older Bond movies better. They're not quite as gritty and tend to not take themselves as seriously as the Craig movies.

This is one of those movies that while lackluster at the time of it's release, it got better when viewed as part of the whole.

I hope you do some of the older Bonds. My personal favorite is 1977s 'The Spy Who Loved Me' featuring the greatest Bond henchman and epic sets. One set was so titanic it held the record at the time for size and maybe still does. Most all the films feature amazing stunts with real people actually doing them, not CGI cartoons.

The last James Bond movie I really liked!

One thing I really like about these films is that the cinematography is gorgeous.

Addie, may I suggest you check out the Pierce Brosnan James Bond movies as well? He came right before Daniel Craig. The Craig Bond movies were a reboot, going more for the feel of the novels-- darker and more serious. But they do pick up the pace with each film. The Brosnan movies portray the Bond character more upbeat with quipping one-liners and the action scenes more exaggerated with colorful villains and gadgets, set in comic book style storylines. It would be interesting to see you react to the contrast between to two styles of Bond. In any case, your reactions are ALWAYS fun to watch. 👍

Development of this movie began even before they started shooting Casino Royale, it was always meant to be a direct follow-up. Several people worked on the script, and the last official draft was completed only two hours before the start of a Writers Guild strike, so they couldn't hire a writer to do any work on it during production. The only ones allowed to work on changing things were the director and the actors, so they were hamstrung a bit during production. It's widely considered the weakest of Craig's Bond movies, but it's not terribly by any means. And yes, the hype about Skyfall is well-earned, it's a FANTASTIC movie. I can't wait for you to watch it :)

I honestly liked "Spectre" more than "Skyfall." It's hard for me to ignore that the latter has the same basic premise as "GoldenEye." I know it wasn't not the first Bond movie to reuse the basic premise of a previous movie (see "The Spy Who Loved Me" and "Moonraker," for example), but it's pretty much the only highly praised Bond movie to fit this description that I can think.

There is no need for apologizing for your opinion on what you like vs what others don’t like AND not liking what others do like. Happy May Eve to you and to Ollie!!

So many jump cuts... so much shaky-cam...
