It’s nice to see a young Galadriel, and learn about the ancestors of the hobbits.

Your reactions are the reason why I watch this series. I'm a big LOTR and Hobbit fan but the series wouldn't really pick me up on its own. Your videos make it somewhat bearable. Maybe the wow effect will come.

I'm a believer in respecting the source material, and this series doesn't. "Correcting" what Professor Tolkien created based on debatable modern societal standards makes no sense whatsoever.

Except that this is essentially fan fiction, and has nothing to do with Tolkien's actual story. I respected Jackson for trying to ensure that the story he told was Tolkien's, even if it had to be edited for time (Arwen replacing Glorfindel and removing Tom Bombadil, as well as killing Sauron at Isengard and deleting the Scouring of the Shire are all examples of this. Yes, I know that there were no elves at Helm's Deep!). The creators here are telling their story with sloppy writing and trying to cover it all with amazing CGI. Young Galadriel asking about the reflection of the light in the sky in the water?? THERE IS NO LIGHT IN THE SKY! The only light is the two Trees! Finrod telling her he won't always be around to teach her these lessons (with obvious foreshadowing) is pointless! The elves have no CONCEPT of DEATH at this point in history because to date NO ELF HAD EVER DIED! This isn't nitpicking. It's sloppy writing pretending to be profound, and it's all this series is doing.
