KingGoji94

I'd just dip your toes in Godzilla with minus one.

Justin

Yes! Turtles won! 🐢 I am the same as Jeremy on this movie. I grew up watching all three. Been wanting you to see this for a while now. So excited!

Agent Carter :D 19:39 Agent Carter was a fun series, and it also featured Jarvis, the person Tony Stark based his AI on, which later became the core software for Vision. Howard Stark also shows up as well, during this time Marvel had a good amount of shows, Agents of Shield being the most iconic and recommended. But Runaways, along with Cloak & Dagger, are two really fun shows that I don't think get enough attention. Legion is another amazing series starring, well, Legion, the son of Charles Xavier. Legion has no connection to the Fox X-Men films, but both Runaways and Cloak & Dagger are part of the extended MCU, alongside shows like Daredevil. Legion is some of the best mutant-related content, alongside X-Men '97. I couldn't recommend Legion more for fans of trippy storylines set against a timeless sci fi backdrop. It's just some really good TV and remains one of my personal favorite comic book shows, extremely underrated when it comes to attention. Season 1 of Legion, along with X-Men '97 is peak comic book content. Superhero films aren't actual cinema!!! I completely agree with your take on superhero films. The whole issue, at least from my understanding stems from their formulaic approach: high stakes, CGI-heavy finales, and a consistent blend of humor and action, seen in many recent Marvel films. This often results in movies that feel light on narrative and more focused on spectacle. As a famous director noted, they come across more as "theme park rides" than "actual cinema." It’s a shame because the comics and animation are so creative and engaging, filled with deep storytelling and unique artwork that varies across countless artists over decades of storytelling. So many films simply don't do these stories or characters justice. DC animation, for instance, is often better than its live-action movies. While Batman has some great live action films, most other DC characters aren’t as fortunate. So creatives need to focus more on storytelling and allow each film to have its own unique identity. This is one of the reasons why animated movies and shows like Into the Spider-Verse, X-Men '97 along with My Adventures with Superman and Batman: Caped Crusader are so beloved. With Fantastic Four: Next Steps, along with Superman releasing next year hopefully these will bring us into a renaissance of Superhero movies. Animation, comics, and gaming are king right now when it comes to great Superhero media but the films are lacking behind.

Hi Addie I hope you're having a great day. Are you looking forward to Thanksgiving or Christmas to end out the year?

Randee Carreno

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 Thank you for another great monthly Q&A. I vaguely remember the first "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie that we'll be watching. The second sequel is the one I remember the most. Looking forward to revisiting that movie coming up soon. Have a great day today & a great weekend! 😊

Alex Tan

Happy Friday, Addie. Thank you so much for answering my Q&A questions. For those that weren't answered in my set, they'll be reworked for future Q&As. Now, here are my thoughts on certain things: 1. A shoutout to Justin. Your suggestion for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) just won Addie's Wheel that Counts. You just made Jeremy's day here. 2. (to Jeremy) You gave the best jump scare in the WHOLE HISTORY of jump scares on Addie's channel when you grabbed her shoulder at the end of her reaction to Jurassic Park (1993). 3. I'm thankful for my friends, family, colleagues and my girlfriend. I'm also thankful to be a part of your YouTube and Patreon communities and to be among the many who have helped you achieve your 100K milestone on YT. 4. Sure I'm appreciative that Barbie (2023) had a lasting impact upon those who enjoyed it, including yourself, but my main concern (which I describe as an Oppenheimer moment that I mentioned earlier and am mentioning again) about the film's success came from an industrial standpoint, fearing that a new kind of blockbuster mentality was to be set in motion, either with more toy-based movie adaptations and/or empowering feminist chick flicks that could be perceived as preachy, similar to what Disney has been (seemingly) doing lately with oversaturating their core IP (Intellectual Property). And again, a lot of people that I know still hated the movie, but I still respect those that enjoyed it for it's empowering message and entertainment value it brought to them. The movie is just not my cup of tea. TBH, the only good thing about the movie was how it influenced Universal & Warner Bros. (the studios responsible for both Oppenheimer & Barbie) to approach Atlantic Records and apply the same marketing method with the soundtrack album for Twisters (2024). 5. (back to thanksgiving) As of this year, instead of doing turkey or ham, my family is planning on having Peking Duck as the main course this year, giving this tradition a Chinese twist. So, if you've heard of a thanksgiving turkey, then you'll get to know a thanksgiving Peking duck. 6. I'm more of an apple pie guy. 7. You hitting 100K was the BEST memory that ever happened in the WHOLE HISTORY of your channel. 8. (on the superhero movie debate) I stand with you here. IMO, the only problem was that too many of them were being made after a couple of years, causing the productions of them to feel rushed, resulting in the mass audience growing weary of them due to bad quality, which also exemplifies my main concern about the success of Barbie (2023). 9. If there were quotes that I would use in my daily life, then it's: "I feel the need, the need for speed!" and "If you feel it, chase it!". "Life is like a box of chocolates. You'll never know what you're gonna get." and "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you'll miss it." also apply. 10. I feel that "Oh my gosh!" has been your most used catchphrase, which was one of the reasons why I got invested in you channel from the beginning. You saying "Oh my gosh!" is so wholesome. But I'm HIGHLY against using that on Addie merch because Cassie from PiB already has it on hers. 11. Please put Twisters (2024) on a future poll. #TwistersForAddieCounts 12. (back on the topic of Barbie) If I directed Barbie, I would have made it into an explosive action thriller and retitled it as Barbie & Ken. It would be a lot darker, very suspenseful and very gritty. It would probably be influenced by Bonnie & Clyde (1967), but made in the style of Michael Bay.

Simon Haynes

Doesnt look like my pick was included on the wheel :(

Doug

I’ll second Legion being a fun show, it’s definitely the wildest superhero show I can think of! Agent Carter was good, it’s unfortunate it was cancelled after just a few episodes. 🙁 I liked Agents of Shield after the Hydra twist as well. Phil Coulson is the best! 👍

Doug

I think you can reasonably throw in Pacific Rim and Cloverfield if you’re willing to have a broader Kaiju poll.

KingGoji94

Absolutely while Godzilla is THE kaiju, there are other to watch as well. Add super 8 to the list too

Doug

Oh yeah, didn’t think of Super 8, that’s a good one too. 🙂

Doug

Fun Q&A as usual. - Eyes Wide Shut is the weirdest office Christmas party, it gives “Secret Santa” a whole new meaning! 😳 - It looks like you’ve seen a lot of the good Christmas movies, but two it looks like you haven’t yet are A Miracle on 34th Street (1947) and Trading Places (1983).

Byrd N. Hand

Yeah, apart from those 2 titles and a few more "Christmas Carol" adaptations, I can't really think of any other worthwhile Christmas movies. "The Shop Around the Corner," maybe.

Randolph Tirazona

TMNT!!! My nieces and nephews loved them! Every time they came down to the US I'd bring them to the theaters! Ollie needs a Cheese Burger! LOL Godzilla have to start with the OG! Live watch-alongs... Most PC's can handle it - it's more of "Bloatware" and iNet connection and 'internal speed(s)' or 'memory'! Thanksgiving?!? I've been cooking since I was about 3 or 4 and started with Eggs Over Easy! Been cooking 'the big meals' since about the early 1980's. Butterball turkey is where it's at. Injection, stuffing and 'glazing' with butter IS A MUST for a nice succulent juicy slice of turkey! "V" shaped turkey holder - breast down first, then turn over! This also paves the way for thee most flavorful, rich and creamy Turkey Gravy! I used to do a Roux for the gravy but in the 90's found "Wondra" thee most awesome substitute; very few people can notice the difference! I got friends coming from all over just for the Gravy! LOL Sewing! lol I took "Home economics" in Junior High School, mostly cause of a girl... YES! It taught me tonnes of stuff that's been very handy!!! "Blocked videos": Ever look at other Reactors YT Cuts in order to 'assist' with blocked videos?!? lol But yes, could 'come out worse' than when you've started! Bad YT! Birthday: 1977 I was 14 and got just over $50! I was set on watching a movie, hoping it was a good one so I could watch it as many times as I could! 2nd week of may - nothing, 3rd week in my - nothing! 4th week - "Star Wars" coming soon. I thought: "A war in the stars! That's a movie I wanna see!" There was nothing else about the movie at all!!! I went by myself to see it May 28th Saturday and that Sunday! I saw it 4 times!!! It wasn't till May 31st that the local reviews came out on it - that's when the lines became LONG! 2 whole city blocks long! Finally convinced my 8 friends to go (June 4th) with me paying for them and lunch at McDonald's too! For weeks on end it's all we talked about! Later Mrs Mars of the Drama club wanted to do: "Star Vors" so I joined lol For about a month in Drama we rehearsed! Then one day she said it was canceled. Jeremy!!! TMNT FTW!!! My nephews and nieces would play with their action figures and we'd watch the movies! Great times! Superman!!! "Book... Play?" 1986 - Pacific Northwest Ballet Stowell/Sendak "Nutcracker" captured in the movie: "The Nutcracker: The Motion Picture" I've seen both and the motion picture captures is very well!! But there's nothing like the Ballet itself! Albeit I haven't seen their 'new' one since I'm down here in LA lol YAY! 😺Addie!!!😺 & 😺TeamAddie!!!😺

Thats MR. Baldamort

A fun christmas movie that goes under the radar. A movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jake Lloyd (who you know as child Anakin Skywalker from Phantom Menace) a movie called "Jingle All the Way" (1996) Watch this one for the christmas holidays!

Thats MR. Baldamort

"Jingle all the Way" is a fun Christmas movie. One of my favs growing up. Stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jake Lloyd who we all know as child anakin skywalker. In a film together.

KingGoji94

Eh but if she does 2014 then I'm going to want her to do the entire monsterverse lol

Justin

I don't think she has reacted to "White Christmas" yet. That's a great Christmas movie! Always warms my heart.

Alex Tan

I have several unorthodox Christmas movie suggestions: Enemy of the State (1998), Go (1999), Violent Night (2022), and Silent Night (2023).

LittleGalaxyBoy

I’m excited to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) for the first time myself. I grew up on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003), and it was one of my favorite shows growing up. I remember there was this very Days of Future Past episode, Season 3, Episode 21, titled 'Same As It Never Was,' that freaked me out as a kid.

Alex Tan

I have only heard of TMNT but I've never seen any of the original TV shows and movies, especially the 90s movies. I just bought all three of them on DVD on Amazon and when they arrive, I'm definitely watching them.

Doug

If you're looking at Christmas horror movies, Better Watch Out (2016) is decent. (I don't see Addie watching any Christmas horror movies any time soon though. 🤷‍♂️)

Alex Tan

Yeah, but I would love to try to steer her into that direction. Especially with Krampus (2015). #KrampusForAddieCounts

Phil Stubblefield

TMNT! I loved TMNT (1990), and I think I saw it three times before it left theaters.

Phil Stubblefield

You mentioned recently being on the Reactorverse podcast. I checked their YT channel and don't see that episode. Do you know when it will be published?

Addie Counts

Something must have happened because I don't see your comment either! Let me know your rec and I'll make sure it's on next month's wheel!

LittleGalaxyBoy

Everything be getting canceled too soon. Thankfully they found a fun and unique way for Carter to return with the whole What... If? series but hopefully we'll see the return of Agents of Shield.

Thomas Wetherell

Great Pyrenees are such wonderful dogs. I grew up with two of them, always very loving and funny.

Byrd N. Hand

@Justin -- Addie has "White Christmas" listed on her Letterboxd page, so if she hasn't seen it in its entirety, she's at least already seen a good portion of it (à la "Last Action Hero"). Honestly, I don't get this recent trend of combining Christmas elements with horror or action movies (or vice versa). 🤷‍♂️ I say let time judge them, and then potentially come back to them once they've stood its test. Until then, I can only recommend the original "Black Christmas" from this assortment. I figured someone would mention "Jingle All the Way," though I have to admit it's a bit past my time (roughly 5-10 years past). It also includes what I still consider one of the most intelligence-insulting moments I've ever seen in a movie. 🤔

Randolph Tirazona

"Eddie & The Cruisers" (1983) - Incredible movie with Incredible soundtrack; there's also "Eddie & The Cruisers II: Eddie Lives"

Billy Dancel

Special audio guest, Jeremy!! Great to hear from him. Of course a dog is an accessory just like Grogu is a STAR WARS character. This Is The Way We need to see baby Add-E and her cake. See you next month.

2024-11-18 00:13:16 The game reaction idea is pretty interesting. Games are generally more lenient with copyright issues, allowing people to upload full gameplay videos with minimal restrictions, especially when companies encourage sharing gameplay and their reactions. This means you won’t need to worry about editing around content for YouTube or requiring viewers to sync up videos on Patreon. Just be sure to credit the channel you're watching. Channels like Gamer's Little Playground have videos with millions of views that compile a game into a film by combining all the cutscenes with key gameplay moments. In the case of Marvel's Spider-Man (often viewed as equal to the best Spider-Man movies) he's got a whole 6 hour video. Channels like Andy Gilleand have an amazing edit of games like Batman: Arkham Knight put together as a 5 hour film that is up there with the greatest Batman movies, Arkham Trilogy as a whole is amazing. However, as you mentioned, the main audience of the channel is more focused on watching films. Adding video game content would take a lot of time away from watching more movies, especially since these videos can be as long as two full-length films combined. For example, if you wanted to watch the 6-hour Spider-Man video, you could break it down into 1-hour reaction episodes, creating a playlist of 6 episodes, essentially turning it into a limited series. So, managing this alongside movies, shows and daily life would be a lot, especially since you already have a large catalog of films and series to cover for the channel. While there is a significant audience of gamers, there’s also the risk of alienating your current viewers. The best of both worlds would be reacting to side-by-side comparison videos for shows and movies based on games, with The Last of Us being a perfect example, as it's an adaptation of the game's story and characters. Fun idea for future movies/shows based on a video game.

This is for the thumbnail of your full-length reaction to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990). https://images.fanart.tv/fanart/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-5adac572f3ce7.png
