Zodiac will give you nightmares. It's a little too real.

Joseph Voigt

Obviously he has to be Misery, what a classic.

Patrick Blondin

Oh, those are all great choices for October! No matter what’s the order, you’ll be treated well! 😂❤️

Troy Sinegal

I recommend you watch Shutter Island. Leonardo DiCaprio gives a chlling performance and the twist will get you

KingGoji94

Misery, can't go wrong with Stephen king

Alex Tan

Happy Thursday, Addie. All are great choices but my votes gor for whichever one will make you squirm. However, of the film choices here, it'll be Carrie (1976), Signs (2002), Shutter Island (2010) and World War Z (2013). BTW, I'm still recommending The Exorcist (1973). #TheExorcistForAddieCounts

Ali D

Zodiac all day. Shutter Island would be a very deserving 2nd place.

Ernesto Lopez

People are sleeping on carrie, that is literally the perfect movie for addie

Cameron Kerby

Signs is something she’ll love for sure. And nowhere near too scary for her.

Randee Carreno

Happy Thursday, Addie! 😊 All great choices for your first scary movie poll. The original "Carrie" got my vote for this one. Followed closely by "Misery" and "Zodiac". Have a great day today! 😊

Matt Rowland

I hate horror and scary movies, and I did just fine with Signs.

Doug

Of these I like Carrie, Misery, and Shutter Island the best. I was really disappointed with Signs, I thought the ending was pretty dumb, that’s just me though.

David Bennett

I agree! Great film that is a little scary in parts but not TOO scary and has a stellar cast and a very good story. Definitely would be MY first choice on this list. There are plenty of GOOD ones on the list, to be clear. Carrie is just my first choice.

Julian San

Signs is a movie that helped me get through depression. Funny enough, lots of people will say it GAVE them depression 😂 All choices here are good.

HeyHeyJK

I didn't really like "Signs" at all (I don't think I liked anything M. Night did after "Unbreakable"), but I know some people do, and there are other really good choices here but I'm definitely going with "Misery" and will throw in a vote for "Train for Busan" too. Two of my absolute favorites.

Byrd N. Hand

Yep, Shyamalan did indeed lose me with "Signs." Like J.J. Abrams and Zack Snyder, I think he'd be much better suited as a strictly for-hire director, kept far away from the writing/story aspect of the movie in question he was directing.

Doug

To clarify, I don’t think Signs is a “bad movie”, aside from maybe feeling a little slow at times I think it’s ok other than the ending. 🤷‍♂️ Basically if I had a choice of M Knight Shyamalan films to watch, I’d probably rank them Sixth Sense, then Unbreakable, then maybe Split (I haven’t seen Split but I’ve heard it’s not bad), and then Signs at number four. Below Signs is when his movies actually start getting into “bad” territory for me (Devil, The Happening, Old, The Village. Even the new one Trap is getting some pretty bad reviews.) But obviously Signs is contentious, there are definitely people who like it, it’s 75% on Rotten Tomatoes which is not too bad. I’m just not in that bucket.

Travis Berzas

Well, the only one of them I've seen is Signs. I have had the 4K of Carrie for a while but haven't gotten around to watching it. From the reactions I've seen, people seem to really like Shutter Island, whereas Carrie and Misery are outright horror movies, and Train To Busan and World War Z are action/horror movies, with World War Z being described as significantly scary. Zodiac, of course, is about a real life serial killer and the deaths in it have been described as highly disturbing.

SR2 Prod.

Addie, I have a request. Can we watch both whatever comes on first and second place on this poll? These are all grand slam reaction movies. This poll is a rare poll where every movie here is loved by most who have seen them. It would suck to have you only watch one of these movies and then have to wait another year to get to another one when truth be told. Most of the movies here you can watch whenever and are not strictly for October.

Jay Robert

Zodiac is an absolute must regardless of polls.

Martman

Only one I haven’t seen is world war z but the rest of them are all great. Can’t go wrong here!

RX-1

I actually prefer the 2002 Carrie to the 1976 one, if only because the ending is less depressing.

Ernesto Lopez

Yeah signs should not have as many votes as it does, literally the weakest entry in the entire poll

Alex Vazquez

You must see "Martyrs"! A lifetime horror aficionado, I'd heard the buzz and went in expecting the usual thrills. I was woefully unprepared. This movie imprints itself on your soul. It is the ultimate horror experience that will stay with you forever. It is astonishingly transgressive, profoundly disturbing and deeply thought-provoking. You will never doubt your strength to tolerate another scary movie for the rest of your life once you have confronted this. It is the cure for all your fears.

Julian San

Not to spoil anything but the ultimate message of Signs was what I needed at the time, despite any perceived flaws. But the way some people feel about Signs is how I felt about The Village. Despite that movie’s ultimate message, I hated the execution. Let’s just say it was downhill from there. Still haven’t seen Trap, though.

Alex Tan

My girlfriend & I have seen Trap (2024) and we actually liked it. For us, it was a new kind of concept for a thriller.

John Locke

I love every movie on this poll! I'm glad to see Misery and Signs so close to each other! Addie will enjoy both for various different reasons! I hope she watches them both since they are so close! Signs is like telling the story of War of the World's from a isolated perspective. I would also like to request addie watch War of the World's with Tom Cruise!

RX-1

Yeah, Signs and War of the Worlds go great together.

HeyHeyJK

Ugh, let's go "Misery" lovers! It only needs a few more votes to beat "Signs"!!

Byrd N. Hand

It's also the only real horror title in this poll. I hope she's saving the bigger guns for later ones this month...

Jacob King

World War Z is not great. People will defend it by pointing to certain scenes but the whole movie doesn’t add up to much. Great source material though…

Abraham Cuevas

When are you planning to watch Troy?
