But before she could open her mouth, Lord Sinwen’s mouth twitched. He tore down the static barrier he had erected as the door to the hall swung open.

Leena had arrived. Red faced with sweat, she cleared her throat before securing the doors shut. With quickened steps, she hurried behind Astrid with her hands crossed.

“Real smooth.” Astrid teased.

“Thank you, my lady.” Leena bowed. “Lord, Miss.”

“Leena.” Lord Sinwen nodded before putting up the barrier once more.

From there, Astrid explained everything that had happened. She started from when a psychic entity forced them to accept a dungeon entrance prompt, all the way to what she had learned from Darcy–and the golden eyes hiding behind the veil. She told them all of it.

As she recited the events, everyone’s faces twisted. Even Lord Sinwen. It was evident the situation was grave.

“I thought their plan was over once they managed to escape.” Lord Sinwen rapped his knuckles against the hardwood of the long table.

“How did they escape anyway?” Astrid couldn’t help but ask. She knew they were strong, but to escape from Lord Sinwen?

It was then that her brows rose as she remembered a part of the image she scoured from Darcy. They had suffered colossal losses.

As if to agree with her thoughts, Lord Sinwen said, “Me and the other grand nobles managed to wipe a lot of them out, but some strong users managed to push us back.”

“Push you back?” Astrid and Leena’s eyes widened to which Lord Sinwen gave a slight nod.

“Judging by the memories you managed to scry, they must be of the Archbishop, and Cardinal ranks. Each of them had skills that I have never seen before. Obviously they must all have a symbiote each, probably two.”

Astrid copied her father by tapping on the table. If there was more than just one Cardinal, then that meant they had the power to contend against the entirety of Rebirth. Even Lord Sinwen and the others were pushed back. A testament to their power. But where did they come from?

However, the fact that Lord Sinwen could kill so many of their followers even with the Order present meant that he was still stronger than them.

Then how would the Pope fare? The others seemed to worship the person, as if he was an ocean that couldn’t be crossed. If he met with her father, then who would win.

Would it be too risky?

“Then we need to follow them and put a stop to their plan,” Astrid said with conviction.

Astrid was half expecting her father to disagree with the plan. No, that’s not right, she was fully expecting him to shoot down the idea. But his next words caused her lips to curl.

“We do,” Lord Sinwen said. “Gather your team and take them into the Sinwen Armoury. Let them pick whatever they want.”

“Leena too?”

“Leena too.” He responded.

Astrid’s heart buzzed in excitement. The Sinwen Armoury was famed for its treasures. And in typical Sinwen fashion, all of the treasures were related to fighting, and war. Each one was capable of advancing one's fighting potential by a significant amount.

Originally, Astrid had to achieve great merit within the family to obtain one. Whether it was by delving into towns, finding relics, or winning fights that they had no right in winning. It was to show the world that a Sinwen had honour and bravery. Never turning from a fight, even if there was a risk of death.

Bleed, fight, die.

That was their mantra for a reason.

She didn’t expect to receive it so soon. It was meant to be a huge ceremony, but time was of the essence. Well, Astrid wasn’t really into all of that showmanship anyway. She was just happy to receive a shiny piece of equipment.

Astrid stood up, but her father wasn’t finished.

“It’s clear that the old ways of running Rebirth are no longer effective, so as the new tyrant of this arc, I have a new order,” Lord Sinwen said, but he wasn’t addressing those at the table. It was as if he was speaking into the darkness. “Select those of the commoners who are able both in mind and body. Appoint them to their respective positions. If anyone disagrees, deal with them. We need Rebirth to act as one. Not fractured.”

Astrid felt the air in the room swirl, then it was gone. Frowning, she couldn’t even detect anything. It was obvious it was the Shadow Corps doing.

Can they bypass my matter detection? Astrid wondered.

It was the same as the ghouls, or the camouflaged alligator she had faced back in… Well she forgot what the town codename was, but it was a town.

Finally given acknowledgement that she could leave. She kissed her mother on the head, then darted through the halls. Just as she was about to bypass the stalwart doors of the manor, she caught a glimpse of Daniel and the others leaning up against the hallway wall.

Skidding to a stop, she grabbed Lisa by the hand. “I’m taking you all to the Sinwen Armoury!”

“What?” Lisa exclaimed.

“Yeah, father said you can all pick something.”

“Wait lass, that’s too much, right?” Daniel asked.

“Well, all the best ones have already been selected,” Astrid said. “So all that’s left are the medium grade ones that my brothers and sisters didn’t choose.”

“Even still…” Lisa fidgeted her fingers.

“Oh c’mon guys, if Lord Sinwen says it's okay, then who are we to argue?” Brett practically licked his lips. “Lisa, do you want to argue with Lord Sinwen?”

She shook her head.

“But what for?” Losef asked. It seemed he was the first to pick up on the situation.

“We’re heading into Apocrypha.”

At Astrid’s words, everyone’s eyes widened. They were already expecting to enter the city at the end of the year, but for it to happen so soon…

Daniel’s fists tightened until the whites of his knuckles were displayed. “Alright, we’ll be needing the equipment then.”

“Mmm.” Rob agreed.

So, without waiting any further, Astrid took them down into the armoury. It was protected by two strong guards that she had never seen before. They stood in front of a set of heavy metal doors. Motionless.

However, when Astrid arrived, they bowed their heads.

Level ??? - ???

Thought so.

Since they were most likely above Level one-hundred and sixty, that meant that they were on par with some of the nobles of the other households. Yet here they were, standing in front of the armoury. But Astrid wondered why.

It was no secret that the higher valued items were already in the possession of Lord Sinwen, her mother, and her brothers, and sisters. There shouldn’t be anything worthy of protection within.

For appearances perhaps? Astrid shook her head. Her father wasn’t like that. She just had to see for herself.

With strength focused in her muscles, she pushed the door open with a metallic groan. As the crack of the twin doors opened, she peered into massive armoury for the first time.

It was lined with hundreds of weapons, armour, and various other pieces of equipment like rings, amulets, and earrings.

Rachelle was the first to dart into the room as her eyes looked on with awe, and greed. She touched the first items that she came across. Caressing them, she soon found herself in the mid tier section.

It was the same for everyone else. At their level, they had no need for the common treasures within the armoury. They all headed toward the highest tiered area.

There were a lot less items, and some of the holding areas were empty. Presumably the items had already been chosen by someone else. But it didn’t stop the ravenous loot goblin: Rachelle.

She headed straight for the highest tier, where Epic items were common. And compared to the Rare tiered area, it was even more sparse. In total, only three items remained. And it was because they were either peculiar in their uses, or they just didn’t match the combat style of anyone.

Of course, such a thought didn’t matter to Rachelle. She stood in front of a sceptre that was encrusted in gold, sprinkled with red gems. It was perhaps the most gaudy item Astrid had ever seen, but somehow, it seemed perfect in Rachelle’s tight embrace.

She swung it around as if it was a sword until her eyes darted to Astrid. She knew that look anywhere.

Sighing, Astrid pulled it with Psychokinesis until it was in her hands. She used Identify.

Epic - Level 125 - Sceptre of the Chaos Fire: Forged in the Chaos Fire, the sceptre is capable of granting the user high prevision fire abilities, empowering it beyond normal means.
| Stats gained: Intelligence +50, Wisdom +100
| Fire skills are 75% more effective.

Astrid grinned. Rachelle would be happy. She flung it back and was about to tell her what it did, but it seemed she found out for herself.

Finally channelling her burning mana into the sceptre, a fireball that filled the hall with a blazing heat spawned at the top. Like a jewel, it was formed without any imperfections. As if Rachelle’s control of her fire had reached a new level–she gazed at it in wonder. The light reflected against her eyes.

“I love it.” The fire cancelled as she hugged the sceptre.

The others weren’t so lucky. The other two items were so niche that they were of no use. One was for a seer, and the other was used for trapping. None of which anyone used. Thankfully for Daniel and the others, there was more to choose from the Rare section.

In the end, they had acquired a new set of armour, and even some weapons for those who needed it. Rob himself had gained two new shields that were of better quality than his previous ones.

However, Astrid couldn’t find anything for herself. For a mage, the items were lacking. All the Rare equipment were mostly for physical users, so that left her with nothing.

Disappointed, she decided to expand her vision with the help of Psych Domain. The matter warped around her as the centre and it wasn’t long before she detected an anomaly within.

At first she thought it was a cluster of dust, but as she approached the strange sight, it was located underneath one of the Epic tiered stands.

Crouching down, she reached behind the stand, and brought out a small black marble. Grey swirled within. And as she injected her mana into it, it activated.
