Astrid used Major Illusion, obstructing any sight that they might have, and watched from above as they stalked forward. Their guard was up as they looked up at the treeline.

She wasn’t sure what they wanted. Was it for their treasures, food, or simply just for the thrill of battle? It was difficult to understand their intentions just from watching.

They were strange people, but only because she had never seen anything like them before. They had longer than average limbs and didn’t seem to have much muscle, yet she could feel the strength that they had hidden within them. Not only because she had experience in judging her opponents. But it was also from the subtle veins and muscles that contracted, and expanded at every movement. As if their entire body was coordinated to a high degree.

Using Identify, it was clear they weren’t humans–but something else resembling them.

Driader - Level ???

Looking closer, their eyes were different as well. The pupil’s were vertical slits just like cat eyes. She had the sudden urge to pull them out.

As she shook her head, one of them wearing a robe, and holding a staff, took the lead. Their vision wandered from tree to tree.

An Intelligence user. Shit, does he have enough to see through my illusion? Astrid frowned, but she couldn’t hide the excitement within her heart.

What Skills did they have, what fighting style would they use, would they be able to give her a challenge? Those were the thoughts surging through her mind. Worry was nowhere to be found. But of course, she had to remain cautious.

The driader with the staff snapped its head in her direction. Astrid felt no mana, so it wasn’t a Skill. Rather, it must have been its high Intelligence to see through her powerful illusion.

Astrid saw the matter surrounding the mage swirl–the mana was turning chaotic as it activated a Skill. A purple mass of energy formed in the shape of an arrow, then shot towards her. The air blasted the leaves on the ground backward, it was a testament to the strength of the attack.

Connecting to the matter within her body, she dodged to the side and levitated in mid-air. The arrow blasted through the house, then continued unimpeded through the thick tree. As it left the other side of the bark, a secondary blast caused the tree to explode. It creaked, then the intense weight of the tree brough it crashing down.

Astrid grinned and connected to the tree. The intense weight bore down on her mind, but she managed to halt it, and send it back to the destroyer.

The hulking tree hurtled towards the large group of driaders with no mercy.

But that wasn’t all, she wasn’t content with just that attack. Tennyson had always told her that one attack was never enough. Always mask your true attack behind another. So that’s what she did.

Just as the tree covered their vision, she formed a spear from Psych Warp. She created it in just a couple seconds and slammed it forward with her mind. There was a slight thud as the spear entered the trunk. It continued through, cursing the tree to split.

One of the strongest warriors in the front, seemingly the mage’s guard, stepped forward. He slammed his armoured fists together as he seemed confident in being able to stop the tree.

Astrid, with her mind connected to the spear, suddenly increased the speed of it.

The mage’s eyes widened under its hood and shouted something in its own language toward the man, but it was too late. His hands made contact with the tree. The muscles in his body bulged, like they were blown up with a balloon as his feet slid back from the hit. It hadn’t done any damage, but a second later the spear shot out of the tree like a ballista as it pierced the man’s soft, fleshy throat.

Even a Constitution Class user couldn’t take such an attack with such a weak part of their body. His chest, or arm, may be able to stop the spear–but not his throat.

The spear continued to travel, with the driader tank along with it and slammed into a nearby tree. The man’s eyes turned savage as he whipped his elbow back and snapped the metal spear in two. Then, he pried the end from his throat and glared at Astrid.

Damn, that’s badass. Astrid shook her head and focused.

Although it wasn’t from her main attacking Skills, it was still a damned metal spear through the throat and it didn’t even phase him. Looks like they were going to be more difficult in a straight up fight than the femora’s.

Come and get me then, assholes. Astrid spat.

She dodged multiple of the mana arrows. Each time she dodged, the expressions of the other driadar’s became more savage as time passed. After the fifteenth arrow had missed, the guards at the front seemed to say something to the mage, then they sprinted toward Astrid’s tree.

Their long legs pounced up high as they pierced their sharpened fingernails into the bark for a handhold.

Astrid chuckled as she created a bunch of weapons of all different kinds. Some were real, others were but illusions. If only the mage could see her fake images, then she could have some fun.

The driader’s were quick climbers, but that was without dodging anything.

Astrid immediately blasted the weapons down below without remorse. Every sharpened weapon was aimed straight for their vital areas. Throat, heart, arteries, but most importantly, their eyes.

The humanoids attempted to dodge, but one moment they were real, then the other they were fake. They didn’t know what to dodge, what not to dodge. Moments of carelessness caused serious gashes into their flesh. Red spilled and covered the thick bark of the tree, as if it was some kind of blood offering.

Then, Astrid mixed the weapons up with powerful blasts of psychic energy. She [Crashed] the air as multiple driader’s were blown up. Their remains sent scattering down below.

Soon, most of them were dead. Unable to finish their climb. But one made it.

Astrid used [Crash], but the monster in human skin suddenly urged the muscles in his body to power up and used it to leap straight for her. At the same time, the mage fired one of its stronger arrows straight for her.

They intended to pincer her. But she wouldn't have that.

If mana was some form of energy, then dark matter should be able to control it. With that thought, she connected to the arrow that was aimed straight for her heart. The weight was incredible as it bore down on her mind. Blood dripped from her nose but she persisted.

Just as the man was about to attack, the arrow swept past her body–and tore straight into his heart.

Without the driader able to resist, she yanked the eyes from his skull as the extra effect from her ring took effect. His head blew up and covered her in both blood and brain matter.

Even without his head, his strong body was still standing. With a push of her finger, the driader was sent tumbling down and thudded against the floor.

Astrid walked to the edge of the platform and sent a grin toward the mage down below. It seemed to hold some sort of status as it smashed down its staff in anger. Astrid was about to make her move beast like howls were heard in the distance.

She wondered why the mage was standing there, then its lips curled upward. They were obviously reinforcements.

They run into view. Five, ten, until almost forty showed up. Their strong feet hitting the floor was like a stampede as they arrived next to the mage. All the driaders looked up at her.

So–many–eyeballs. Astrid smiled.

I want to rip them out. All of them. Astrid clenched her hands together.

“Uh oh Voidmare, here we go…” Pupil sighed.

The radiating power within her body wasn’t the only thing that changed. Just like her Anger overload, the appearance of her body underwent significant changes.

Her hair turned pitch black, along with all her fingers. Then, her eyes were removed from their sockets as they spiralled around her as if she was the centre of the universe. The only thing visible within her sockets were a pitch black that resembled the void of nothingness.

An intense desire overwhelmed all of her senses. Astrid had to use every ounce of willpower she had to not fall into a state of utter madness.

She wanted to rip out their eyeballs, no, she needed to. That’s what her mind was telling her. There was no way she could fight against that will any longer as she shot forward through the air towards the group of driaders.

Even before the fight started, they took a step backward at the sight of the witch. Her eyes orbited around as they gazed at the humanoids as if they were lesser beings.

“Give them to me,” Astrid said as all their eyes were torn from their sockets.

It felt effortless, as if they were simply offering them up. Then all of a sudden, not just their skulls exploded, but their entire bodies were erased from existence. The explosions caused the blood to bloom like a scarlet flower as it covered her entirely.

Their eyes swirled around her. All of the pupils were pointed at the mage, as if they were Astrid’s own.

It was strange, but the moment there were no more eyes, her desire almost washed away like a forceful tide. However, the peculiar obsession wasn’t removed. It was like it was ingrained within her.

Astrid’s mind twitched as a new party of humanoids entered her Psych Domain. Her head snapped to the direction as a human emerged from the thick jungle.

She wanted to pull out their eyes.

The only thing that caused her to halt herself was because they were so close in appearance to humans, perhaps they were?

They wore simple loincloths and decorative masks covered their faces. It was a large group of around seventy. They covered every inch of the land as they halted in place. The men and women barely wearing any clothes gazed at her as if she was a goddess that had descended from the sky.

Watching the eyes swirl around her, all at once, they fell to their knees with their palms to the floor. As if they were worshipping her.

“Quick!” One of them said in a high pitched, screaming voice. “Present your eyes!”

Without hesitation, they widened their eyes.

The obsession within Astrid’s mind flared, the Skill was overpowering her mind. Astrid snarled and yanked more than ten sets of eyes as the blood sprayed. But strangely, no explosions occurred.

They held their face in pain as blood dripped through the cracks in their fingers, yet what happened next killed any desire she had to continue.

“YESS!” The no-eyed ones screamed in pleasure as, strangely, power surged within them. “GLORY TO THE EYE QUEEN!”

The others that hadn’t had their eyes yanked from their skull skittered forward on their knees.

“Me next!”
“No, me is next!”
“I want my eyes ripped from my skull!”

Their hands repeatedly slammed the ground in worship.
