Do I think there are interesting stories to be told about a traumatised kid who (in his mind) feels responsible for the death of the only person who loved him and feels unlovable as a result and a student athlete whose entire life is essentially a sport that he's only doing because he always has and has never had the opportunity/will/reason to explore any aspect of life outside of the sport, including a social life? Yes. Do I think it could be interesting to tell a story about them becoming closer in high school yet each deciding, in their own way, that being together is not what's best for them at that moment in high school given their circumstances and where they are at in their personal journeys? Yes. Do I think this show executed any of the potential well? ... Not even a little bit. The writing was really... not it. I was alright with the acting itself though, all of the issues I had came from what it was that they had to perform not the performance itself and had they been worse I likely would not have finished the show. Final thoughts: not the worst BL I've ever seen (not a high bar) and it is now something that i have watched.
