Summary: Researching a book that takes her to Bali and the black magic cult of Leák, Cathy meets an evil witch which promises to train her in the dark arts. Tricked, Cathy is turned into a Penanggalan; a flying vampire with internal organs hanging from her neck. It is now up to the local holy men who are then enforced to do battle with the forces of evil.  A special thanks to our Dark Cultist Patreon supporters.

Epic. Finding this movie must have felt like discovering the source of the Amazon.

The flying head is not too odd, but the fact that it's dragging around the digestive tract is downright bizarre!!

I've seen this crazy (but memorable) film a number of times. I live in the Philippians and the Indonesian demon is extremely similar to the Philippines demon known as an "Aswang". Many of the locals here also believe that the aswang will suck an unborn child out of the body of a pregnant woman! See: https://mythology.net/monsters/aswang/

I read about this vampire in a series of SF/Horror fiction books by Baen Books, written by William Mark Simmons. One Foot in the Grave and its 4 follow ups... The Thai demon equivalent (I live in Thailand, work in Kazakhstan) is a 'Fee', or possibly a 'Phi'. Spelling is optional. But they've nothing like a European Vampire. I think the closest would be those Chinese hopping vampires. Called, if I remember right Chang Shee, Shiang She? I forget. The two movies I remember them from are Hong Kong martial arts movies Mr. Vampire and the sequel, Mr. Vampire 2. Funny movies in that over the top HK comedy way. Well worth viewing. They are separated by a decade I think. The first being mid 80's the other in the 90's? Not horror films by any means.
