A little refresher... this book (untitled as yet) would be the last in the Entwined Lives arc, after the Celt/Norse "King of Stones," set in a near future. I always wanted to write science fiction, so now moving out of the realm of myth and the past, here's the chance. As readers of the early H & I books know, Carl is a beginning pilot and John an aerospace engineer. I imagined their lives a couple generations later, with grandsons (elaborate on that at another time) on a space mission. I thought of using simualtions of John and Carl, who could appear as their older selves and also as young as when they met. Yes, the ship's room is inspired a bit by the holodeck; that may change later.  They'll deal with a problem — maybe the famous planet killing comet? — that could require superstrength to solve. Still working it out. The grandson's crewmate (and partner) is a Neanderthal, one of many genetically engineered back into the present.
