I have tried the Trial version of ILLGAMES's new game, HoneyCome, and am very hopeful for this game. I am very glad that ILLUSION has risen from its ashes, and in a big way, I might add, because this game is what Koikatsu Sunshine should have been. The game is very similar to Koikatsu, but it has a much, much, MUCH, higher quality, and you can immediately see this from the initial character that appears after clicking on Character Creation. The Trial version doesn't have many elements, but they were enough to make people understand the potential of the game. I had to do a few steps to create a character with very good quality, and all this without mods and plugins. Everything within the game is much better compared to Koikatsu; Body, Face, Eyelashes, Eyes, Clothes, EVERYTHING. I have high expectations for this game when it comes out, and I look forward to creating new characters with it, but this will probably lead to Koikatsu's death. When all the Mods and Plugins in Koikatsu are also available for HoneyCome I don't see any reason why people should continue to play, but that is not a bad thing. Koikatsu allowed me to express my creativity and for that, I will never forget it, but it is a game released in 2018, 5 years ago. If it is still alive, it owes it to its community, but it must be said that it was beginning to be a bit obsolete. HoneyCome will be a very good successor, and I look forward to discovering its potential thanks to Mods and Plugins. The only thing I hope is that the transition of Mods will not be too complicated, but most importantly that somehow it will be possible to transfer Character Cards from Koikatsu. Recreating all the OCs I care most about is not impossible but takes a lot of time.

This is what I think of the game, I hope it may be useful or interesting to someone.

First time hearing about this new game i hope it has a mode similar to studio and it runs better lol. I don't expect it to be able to transfer characters from Koikatsu flawlessly but i do hope it would make it alot easier if i wanted you to recreate characters in the game that i had previously requested for Koikatsu. I don't think i will try this game until it has mod support so if you have any other information or insights on this game it would be appreciated also i thought Illusion was disbanded ? is this made by former developers who made a new company ? Also what engine does it use ? is it still Unity ?

I don't know which ILLUSION members are left, but if you want to try the game you can find it on Koikatsu's discord

I also tried it out over the weekend. The UI is slicker and it has a number of features that really help you do a few things that you needed the material editor for in KK/KKS. It looks and feels better to use also. Unfortunately I would not assume that modding is going to pick up for this as quickly as it did for KK. From what I learned over the weekend, the game uses a compiling method that makes modding it significantly more difficult for the time being. This doesn't mean no mods, but it does mean mods need to be ported and that the porting will be difficult and time consuming. I don't get the sense that KK/KKS will go anywhere anytime soon.

I imagined the process would be long, but I didn't think so much, unfortunately, I don't know much about programming

Anyway yes Koikastu will not abandon us so soon, in fact it is likely that all the new models in the game will be imported to Koikatsu

ScrewThisNoise (the guy who compiles BetterRepack) wrote up a big post about it on their Pateron. It seems like Illu... ILLGAMES is trying to also say that anything made in HoneyCome is also legally their property... so that is food for thought. Probably not enforceable but I am not a lawyer. As others have pointed out... it would be funny to watch them try to enforce that only to trigger the avalanche of lawsuits from other companies when it was facsimiles of their characters that Illusion is trying to claim. https://www.patreon.com/posts/87370082

Parryer

Also they are going Ubisoft style in that it runs on the studios own servers as well. It may help prevent pirating but it also leads to either A) they shut down the server for an older game forcing the community to buy whatever "newer" game in the series or B) (I don't think it is likely any time soon but still slight chance) they end up actually closing instead of a weird rebranding like they did which truly means that any games made by them would truly be lost forever; since the servers would go down with the company as well.
