Matt and Billy don their bacofoil slacks and hoist their solar sails as they boldly go where no fans have gone before (since the mid-90s anyway!), with a commentary and critique of the 1994 direct-to-video spin-off drama, Shakedown: Return of the Sontarans.

Stick around after the main feature for a quick look at the 'Making of...' doc and also a wee slideshow of fabulous behind-the-scenes pictures taken by Alan Stevens and presented here with his full permission. Shout out to Dylan Rees' Downtime: The Lost Years of Doctor Who which is a must-buy for anyone who has an interest in this era of fan-films/spin-offs and was the main research source for this bonus RoD.

We'll work towards recording more of these as it was a blast to just sit and chill and chat rubbish over some Who-fluff, so next up will be either Just Who On Earth Is...Tom Baker? or Wartime (depending on if we can find a decent copy of either film!).

It's certainly an interesting film. I'd really recommend the book or the audiobook, I listened to it last year and it's a much more engaging story. TD really padded it put with much more stuff, including Seven and Benny!

Love a ROD commentary! I read the Virgin missing adventures Lords of the Storm a while back, which apparently connects to the Shakedown novel, and it was cool to see their lore expanded on. They explain the differences in Sontaran make up in this and the TV stories by having them all be from different clans, so there's a clan that looks like Linx and another that are more lizard looking like the Shakedown ones. Would be fun to see a commentary on the PROBE films, I don't think i've ever really seen anyone talk about them.
