For the first time ever, the RoD Boys are venturing into the worlds of Big Finish with a review of their offering for this year's 60th Anniversary celebrations, Once and Future.

'Past Lives' is the first instalment in this series, but is this already too much fanwank and globe-hopping waffle for Matt and Billy to handle?

Hope you enjoy this one gang - we'll aim to get the next story, 'The Artist at the End of Time' (by James Goss, hooray!) out in a more timely fashion as we're aware lots of you have already listened to 'Past Lives' and have moved on to more important things, like regretting the rest of your BF pre-orders for the year! We jest of course, and don't think we're not grateful for the existence of the Big 'F - we're only having a giggle.

Next up on the Patreon front will either be our critique of the next adventure in this run or a look at Jon Pertwee's final canonical appearance as the Doctor (nevermind, 'Devious'...) - 1996's 'The Ghosts of N-Space' (oh no wait...oh God, it's a 6-parter)!

After that, we'll take a break from the audio dimensions and dive into your burning questions with another Q&A session. We won't make a habit of talking about audio-only Doctor Who, but maybe we'll talk about that one anniversary story later in the year. You know the one? The one that sits inside your head, lives among the dead, sees you in your bed and eats you when you're sleeping?

Yeah, that one.

Changing gears, we thought you guys would like to see how Dave Burgess has been getting on creating our brand new title sequence. He's creating Sid Sutton-esque lense flares/refractions by hand!

We've seen a rough draft of the titles in motion and things are heading in the right direction. Matt and Billy assembled some notes which have been sent off before we see another pass of the sequence. We'll share more about the process of collaborating on the rebrand once things are out in the wild! Plus, we'll be showing you how the New Zealand end of the podcast is being assembled (literally, with screws, sanders, varnish and a few arguments).

All the best RoDers - remember, Johnny's back this Thursday with the TV Movie review!

Boys - you really spoil us Patreons! Another great ep. Re: 'How far back do you go?' - Matt mentions Timeless Children, but it's also 'the line' from Morbius that Chibnall seems to have used as part inspiration. I used to be big BF fan, but gave up about 5 or 6 years ago due to quality of stories declining (IMHO), which I assosciate with their - ahem - prolific output. I also think the series thrives on change, and having same actors playing the Doctor over the 24 years since BF started means that change doesn't happen.

Hey Guys, great episode. I'm an avid Big Finish listener, I get most of their DW ranges (I buy about 4 - 5 releases a month) and I was really looking foward to this release. But I have to say I was pretty disappointed with this, it felt less like a story and more like small sceens just stitched together. I was quite suprised considering it was written by Rob Valentine, who is one of my favourite writers in recent years (He script edits the current sixth doctor range which is excellent), but it feels like with this, he was given a brief to set up the series and that's all he did, the "story" of the actual episode came second to the set up. I still have hope for this series but I am glad I didn't shell out for the delux edition (Bad Luck Matt ๐Ÿ˜†). Big Finish are 50/50 with the decade marking anniversary stories (Light at the End ๐Ÿ‘ Zagreus ๐Ÿคฎ) Hopefully Once and Always bounces back. I hope you continue to review this series, I am intrigued to see how Eccleston and Tennant will fit in.
