Howdy doodily doo, how's it going?

And just like that, another series of Doctor Who comes to a close! That was the first time we've critiqued a full season of the show since Flux in 2021. As a result, we've been a bit quieter on Patreon as we brought you the weekly livestreams, but we're focusing our attention on the summer content and we can't wait to share the goodies with you.

Firstly, just a quick shout-out to Macra, a Patreon supporter and diehard RoDer who has been modding the chat each week for the livestreams. Massive thanks to you mate, you've done an amazing job. Also, thanks to all of you Patreon RoDers for sticking with us even though exclusive content has been thin on the ground while Series 14 has been airing.

Right, so, what's coming up? Well, with Matt away in Brazil very shortly, we've been getting ahead on recording mainline episodes and bonus stuff. As it stands, here's the plan for RoD from June to July (*denotes Patreon content).

  • 27/06 | Doctor Who: The Movie commentary*

  • 04/07 | Ep88. The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords

  • 11/07 | Double-0-RoD 003. Spectre (2015)*

  • 18/07 | Ep89. Series 14 Wrap-Up

  • 25/07 | Bidding Adieu commentary (w/Johnny)*

Which takes us up to 1 August - our 10th Anniversary as Review of Death - and the nice round number of Ep90. It will be a return to Exxilon with 'Death to the Daleks'! This will also act as a bit of a two-part celebration of RoD, with a review of 'Deep Breath' for Ep91 - after all, it was the modern episode released closest to RoD forming!

Following that, one idea is to look to the great RTD for inspiration. He provided a list of stories he advised people to check out ahead of the Series 14 finale. We've already ticked a few off in the past, but 'Spearhead From Space', 'A Good Man Goes to War' and 'The Bells of St John' are all solid picks. We'd like to pay tribute to William Russell, perhaps with a review of 'The Edge of Destruction', but come October, we'll be pivoting to the 13th Doctor era with a look at Jodie Whittaker's opening story, 'The Woman Who Fell to Earth', to mark the 6th anniversary of her debut season.

We are thinking about doing some spin-off reviews , later in the year, for Patreon. I asked in the RoD Discord how they felt about us critiquing Torchwood, episode by episode, considering Barrowman's persona non grata status. The Sarah Jane Adventures is also an option - neither Billy nor Matt have much of a relationship with the show from its original airing so it would be fresh for them!

Anyway, there are a few options. Let us know what you think and thanks again for your continued support. We can't wait to get back to your regularly scheduled RoDing.

See you soon,

- RoD 💜💚

Thanks guys! Always happy to help 😁 with regards to the torchwood reviews, will they be in order or release or similar to how you do doctor who with just picking random episodes?

Isaac Baker

I would be up for either SJA or Torchwood. Critiquing episodes by release order would be interesting
