Chasing My Tail (Poem) (Patreon)
Content
For a while now, I've been commented about how I have reams of my old poetry from high school and college, a lot of which is very therianthropic. I'm sure quite a bit of it isn't very good, but some of it did capture my emotions at the time very well. I'm starting inching closer toward doing a chapbook with the better poems, plus some newer pieces of poetry. This poem dates all the way back from 2002, when I was in college. (And yes, I am that old.) I'll have to edit this stuff before I can release it, but here's a sample of this older work.
Chasing my Tail
Someday, I’ll reach the end.
someday I’ll stop dancing,
and with a sigh I will breathe my last breath.
The darkness will come, and I shall finally rest
in the earth from which I came from.
I will no longer be chasing my tail around in circles.
The dance I came here to preform will be over,
and as the curtain comes down
I shall rest in the silence, where everyone goes.
But I'm not ready to go, not ready to pass on.
I refuse to stop dancing, stop fighting,
for I plan to keep living till they yank me off the stage.
I refuse to simply wait for the end.
not when there is so much to do,
even if I seem to keep going around in circles,
I'm going to keep on dancing, keep on going
even if I trip and fall to the floor,
I will stumble back to my feet, and keep going
even if chasing my tail is all I seem to be doing.
