There’s a great companion podcast “Talking Derry Girls” that you can listen to as well. It is 3 women who host and they reflect on living through this time period in Derry and review the show. I believe 2 are Catholic and one is Protestant. I highly recommend it!

As someone who attended an all-girls Catholic high school during the early 1990s, I have to tell you how much this speaks to me and my friends. The nuns from my K-8th grade school were all from Ireland, as well. Some things might be particular to that experience: the lame assemblies, the attempts to individualize our uniforms, etc. Some things are universal: parents and teachers just don’t understand, liking a boy, school work, class distinctions, and so on.
