I feel kinda bad for maybe hijacking the comments by posting first and negatively about the wonder wheel scene last week - most of my comments aren't negative...Hopefully others felt comfortable enough to disagree with me if they wanted to :) Originally airing on February 18, 2022, 'Billy Jones and the Orgy Lamps' is Episode 2 of Season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It is the 28th episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 7.7, placing it as the #7 ranked episode of this season and #28 out of all the episodes shown so far.

To me, there's a difference between something being uncomfortable for story's sake and still being a enjoyable to watch and something being uncomfortable in a grating way. My problems with this season largely stem from how Joe felt while watching the episode. Not to spoil, but it feels like it drags like this for a bit and no real progress is made. This episode is probably some of the worst of it in terms of how annoying it can become though. Also, I said this last week, but it's important to remember that we got two episodes every week for 4 weeks for this season. So ending with this and then having to wait a week didn't garner much excitement for me at the time lol. This is actually the second lowest rated episode of the entire show. I really don't want to sound too negative because I do obviously love the show, but yeah, for me this one had the disadvantage of being "meh" and irritating. The scene with Midge and Abe at the end is the highlight. You guys have some great Lenny insights haha. In terms of this show though, you really don't need to know anything about his real life chronology at this point in time. They play very loose with the facts. It's more about the aura. As someone else mentioned, the end of the season IS worth it and does pick up in the back half. It has my favorite episode and some of my favorite scenes of the entire show. I just hate how "stuck" we get with Midge in this state she's in. Next episode is a good one though and probably my second favorite of the season.

We can't wait to hop into that one. Every show is gunna have an episode that is not as good as the others. That was this one for me. Still an incredible show in every way!
