yes, it's set in pennsylvania (but maybe filmed in california). my friend's older brother went to high school with adam goldberg (same class year) in philadelphia.

The home video montage was dedicated to the dad because Adam Goldberg doesn’t have a sister in real life but he turned his brother Eric into Erica to balance the cast more and give more storytelling options. I can sadly say being around Adams age in the 80s I had both of Adams outfits and the skating outfit Barry had. At least I didn’t have to wear the train mess to school.
