Roland Cooke

Leanne Connors was played by Natalie Gold (not the same person as the YouTube reactor!), who would go on to play Kendall's wife Rava in Succession. + As some who grew up outside the USA during the 1980s, we were very familiar with Reagan's heavy-handed foreign policies. But was Reagan equally divisive within the USA in relation to economic / globalist policies? Our own Margaret Thatcher - who was very tight with Ronald Reagan - was definitely seen as not caring about the people in certain regions of the country. + Henry mentioned that the Z/28 (Gen III Camaro) was going to be Car Of The Year...I missed that shout-out previously. https://mikeduman.com/blog/history-z28#:~:text=The%203rd%20generation%20of%20Camaro,fiberglass%20with%20functional%20air%20induction. Not really a spoiler for the show, but we'll learn more eventually! + For The Americans nerds out there, Chip and Sara's podcast from 24 March 2014 includes the following: >We also talk about the technology of the skywheel, dark rooms, and the history of Erhard Seminars Training, and the battle of Khe Sanh.< Sara's background is in (local government) child welfare, so her take on the care process (in a later podcast episode IIRC) for Jared is fascinating. + From Quora (some details snipped to prevent spoilers): > I served in the U.S. Navy submarine force during the Cold War. I do know of the case involving export of very large and sophisticated 9-axis and 5-axis milling machines from Toshiba Machine Corp. to the Soviet Union in 1981–1983. These machines stood 2 stories high and, along with sophisticated CNC software, were able to manufacture much quieter props for Soviet subs. U.S. monitoring and tracking of Soviet submarines equipped with these props, like the Akula class, became much more difficult beginning in the early 1980’s. There were export controls in place to prevent this sort of technology with potential military applications from transfer by western countries to the USSR. However, these controls were deliberately circumvented by some Toshiba Machine Corp. managers and led to a major international scandal. < +
