I too feel a bit bittersweet heading into the final season of Schitt's Creek -- even though I've seen it all before, I'm re-experiencing through your great reactions. (There's also a behind-the-scenes special that you may want to tag on to the end, "Best Wishes, Warmest Regards." Unfortunately it seems not to be included with the series package -- last I checked, it had to be purchased on YouTube, though there may be other ways.) I think doing the Guest ensemble movies is a great idea! I'm a big fan of Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show. (A bit less so of A Mighty Wind, but no matter.)

I think the first couple of seasons of Modern Family are outstanding -- it deserved all its Emmys. It went on for a long time though, and didn't always keep up the inspiration. One rather eccentric idea for a "family" type half-hour show: what about Only Murders in the Building? It's on Hulu, and though each of its 3 seasons is in the form of a murder mystery, it's also about forming a nontraditional family among 3 very different lonely people (Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez) in the same NYC apartment building. It's also very funny, and plays with dramatic format in clever ways.
