We all love Patrick, but one little flaw has been established for him: he avoids the awkward conversations (in this case, not just with his parents, but not previously telling David the whole situation -- and last season, there was the story of his engagement to Sarah). It's all very human and understandable, of course, but I love that the writers think of long-term consistency like that. And Dan and Noah played their little scene to perfection.

Thanks for pointing that out! Patrick’s flaw is being nice — to a fault. I love that for him. It feels like a character trait usually meant for a flat, boring type of character, but Patrick has this and is still complex and interesting. Props to Dan Levy and the writing staff in general!

I love the complete lack of homophobia in Schitt’s Creek. For a moment it looks like we might be heading that way with Patrick’s parents, but they quickly establish that they’re not upset about Patrick being gay. As a member of the LGBTQ community I really feel like this show is a safe place where I don’t have to worry about bigots popping up just to make for an interesting storyline.

Right? Plus it's been done so MANY times. This show is absolutely brilliant and not in an obvious way.
