Lamorne Morris ("Winston") is a gem. They don't quite know how to write for his strengths as an actor at first, as you'll see, but once they crack the code he becomes an absolute batshit delight 😂

love this show!!! I watched it ages ago back in high school, but I never finished it, so maybe now I can with y'all! :D It is a bit dated, like you said, but I think that's part of its charm. Very much a product of the "adorkable" era :) Since you mentioned getting suggestions for shows, and last ep you said you chose New Girl because you wanted something in similar vibe to Ted Lasso, if you wind up wanting something else to watch that's both profound and hysterical after you finish Crazy Ex Girlfriend, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see y'all react to Bojack Horseman. It's another insanely unique dark comedy on Netflix, and highly critically acclaimed. I didn't think I'd get into it based on the first couple episodes, but WOW. It is now my all-time favorite piece of media. Changed the way I view storytelling as a writer, and changed my life multiple times. You guys are really perceptive and thoughtful, and you pick up on themes/foreshadowing/characterization really well, so getting to hear your thoughts on such a complex, thought-provoking and deeply moving show would be perfect for your discussion style! (Plus, y'all know a lot more movie/pop culture references than I do, so you'll likely get a lot of jokes that go over my head) I was skeptical at first, but without spoiling anything, that was actually the writer's intent! They wanted it to seem like a typical cookie-cutter animated adult comedy in order to subvert those tropes and become something truly special. Even if you don't react to it, I hope you get the chance to see it sometime. I only consider a small handful of things to be a masterpiece, and Bojack is at the top of that list.
