If you put 100 people with Autism in a room, you're going to get 100 different stories and strengths and weaknesses. You're going to have people that you can't find anything "wrong" and people who are severely affected by it. Pretty much every portrayal of Autism in the entertainment world is truly representative of someone with Austism. But they're all completely different.

I love this episode, it's probably the second-best episode of the best season of The West Wing (Two Cathedrals is definitely the best) in my opinion. Thank you, I really enjoyed your reaction. I was glad there were lighter elements throughout (the Ainsley and Sam banter was so much fun as usual) to balance out the severity of the Toby/Bartlett scenes. The acting performances, like you said, were brilliant. Richard Schiff definitely earned those Emmys. Also, I refuse to believe that Toby - the speechwriter - didn't already know the plural was Surgeons General ; )
