You tend to recognise the typical patterns of the highs & lows for an episode after a while. The optimist episodes, which start out with troubles and difficulties, and where they find a last-minute solution, and come out happy. And then, the realistic episodes, which may start out with a hype, but in the end, they got defeated with unforeseen circumstances, and have to accept the realistic outcome. And then, there are episodes like this, where they meet tough situations, take the beating, but there is still a message of hop in the end. I love those.

Great episode. Next one, Noel, is a top ten episode for me, and I think Bradley Whitford got an Emmy nomination for it.

The common theme is "communication" whether it's the Galileo 5 spacecraft or the Russians, or trusting the People with the stamp or green beans: "Talk to us".

HBO in the US uses 23.976fps while HBO Europe is sped up to 25fps because HBO uses the old PAL standard for Europe (as if we still use CRT TV's in Europe). So if Europeans want to get less sync issues they might want to set custom playback speed to 0.95 which is closer to the 95.904% it should be. The problem is that HBO isn't consistent with this, sometimes only certain scenes are sped up.

Love the reaction, one suggestion I have is just to be mindful of where your camera is pointing, it's fine at the beginning but when y'all lean back, you're barely in the frame at all, it's just the top of your heads lol

Is that Kevin’s cat or Joe’s cat?

When I was in college I briefly wrote for the student paper. I interviewed a geology professor about ice crystals that NASA found from the Mars Rover. This guy was so excited and went on and on. I was just looking for a good quote. I just wanted him to say there was life on Mars, but no dice, he wouldn’t get near the quote. I wish I had appreciated all of the scientific work being done at that time and absorbed what he was telling me.

I can’t wait until next week’s episode!!!! It is one of the finest hours of television.

I just confirmed this week that retired astronaut, Mike Mullane, is my dad’s second cousin. Totally crazy! I wanted to go to space camp as a kid, but we never had the money. https://youtu.be/RtkD9TJzybk

Galileo V is hope. Galileo V is being there and trying. Galileo V is failing but not being ashamed of it. This episode gives me goosebumps every time I watch it, no matter what. The ending scene between CJ and Bartlet is shot in such a perfect manner it is so emotional yet inspiring. You feel their sadness, but you can see there's hope. There's Galileo VI in front of them. When this show take a joke like the "Galileo V" "You didn't say it right" and brings it to the next level, giving it meaning, emotions and power you really understand how people behind those words could change them, how everything you say has a context, a moment, but you should say it anyway. Galileo V is the hope that moves us forward, into the next episode

The green bean thing is based on when George Bush Sr. said he didn't like broccoli and it became an actual issue lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlzyIbmyM78

Next week’s episode has my favorite scene in the entirety of the series, so in my rewatches I tend to forget how amazing this episode before it is. That speech CJ gives at the end is incredible, and it’s all thanks to Allison Janney. She really makes you feel it.

Agree on how you forget the run of incredible episodes in season 2. I mentioned on their YT channel awhile back that I'd forgotten that the four episode run they're in the middle of existed. The fact that The Portland Trip, Shibboleth, Galileo, and the next episode go back to back to back to back is just... stupid. Next week is one of three which I feel like most people have placed in the top three of the season (if not the series). What's funny is that everyone reading this knows which three episodes I'm talking about.

I can’t wait for you to watch the next episodes “Noel”. It is a beautifully written episode. The one after Noel has the best opening. If you are looking for another show to watch I would highly suggest “Battlestar Galactic” the reboot.
