Mike Dean was an active Premier League / FA Cup referee at the time, but has since retired from on-field work, but does provide off-field video assistance.

I give Bill Lawrence a lot of credit in the weighty issues while making you laugh as that has been his track record with so many of his shows like Spin City and Scrubs. Great episode.

It’s shocking and also not at all surprising the amount of parents that act like Jamie’s dad in pretty much any sport. Lavar Ball isn’t gross like Jamie’s dad really but is one of the funniest in recent memory. In soccer the French National team is constantly having stories of parents fighting! High level sports of any age is a toxic world

He is so, so talented. Are you watching Shrinking? If not, then start. It's excellent.

I agree, toxic parents are a real thing and it's not even at the professional level. It kind of makes you see why some of the "best" are so driven. Their parents are almost living vicariously through their children and it's sad. We love Jamie and hope the best for his character.

Truly, love the balance of humor and drama. No show on tv is doing it at this level right now.

Jamie's arc over this season (and from the last) is fantastic and I was a little upset Phil Dunster wasn't nominated for an Emmy! His acting is first rate! Especially this episode with his father but just the whole season (more to come!). I adore the relationship between Sam and Rebecca, it just feels so right and I love that they are trying to tear down some our preconceived notions about relationships, age differences etc. Just for the future when you are looking for more in depth intelligent shows, I am getting into Shrinking (also Bill Lawrence along with Brett Goldstein as writers ) and The Expanse (now concluded 6 seasons but hoping for three more to complete the 9 book trilogy. Oh and you probably know this by now, E9 is the extra episode!

Youtalkingtome

Yes we figured this was the extra one lol. Shrinking seems interesting especially since it has the same writers, also how can you not love Harrison Ford? Phil Dunster really needs a nomination, it's hard to compete with Goldstein though.

Rewatching Ted Lasso knowing what YOU TWO now know is really something you can't describe. Every time Ted names something about his father, some father or someone needing a father figure, YOU know what the man is trying to say without opening his pandora's box He's afraid that if he ever says something he wouldn't be able to come back. Welcome to the turning point for every episode of the first two seasons

I never thought the show would delve this deep into dramatic territory, but oh man is it excellent. I think that was the most emotional reaction we've ever had on the show and it was a beautiful piece of writing.
