Just a tip, you might want to have a couple tissues nearby for the next episode. And more than a couple for episode 10 ;)

Because if she was nice and welcoming in the beginning he would have kept on doing the same thing he has done with everybody else - happy and upbeat without getting down to anything serious. Just wouldn't have worked character-wise any other way.

This whole season is about how each of us is broken and each of us needs a form of therapy, whether it is from a professional or a relationship or whatever it is that can help us see ourselves, our brokenness and what makes us truly happy! How ironic this season came out in 2021 at the time of the Summer Olympics when Simone Biles was having her own psychological issues that limited her ability to compete at top form. And there are characters that don't need therapy (Higgins comes to mind, although he clearly suffers when he is hiding important truths from people he cares about!) and others that desperately need it but don't avail themselves of the people and options they have to help themselves. It is a masterful view into all of those types of people because they ALL exist. Such a great show!! (and the next episode is one of my all time favorites regarding the overall story!)

I wouldn't be surprised if Higgins had already been going to a therapist. He had the idea to call in a sports psychologist, and while his and his wife's relationship is certainly helathy, there's nothing wrong with getting a tuneup every so often. I think it's also interesting that at first Nate was very on board with therapy — when Jamie was having trouble assimilating, he suggested they "get Dr. Sharon." IMO it was Ted's negative reaction that contributed to Nate not wanting to seek it himself despite much/most of the team doing so.

That was a very insightful look at the show, I absolutely agree with you as well. Therapy is very important for everyone, mental health is just as important as physical health. We love this show and can't wait for the next episode.
