As a gay man I actually love the character of Max so much. He avoids so many of the stereotypes we have to face and its so good to see a gay guy being a total "dude bro" instead of a effeminate caricature of gay people.

Thanks, guys! For me this is one of their peak episodes -- all 3 plots are great fun in their different ways, and two of them eventually tie up neatly with Penny defeating Dave who's hanging out at Alex's place. I love how invested Brad is in Max's love life. He's so thrilled whenever Max lies and talks about having instant hot sex with Franklin. As to how wealthy they are in proportion to how they live... yeah. We just have to apply the usual urban-sitcom suspension of disbelief (which all Friends watchers will recall). Penny, Jane, and Brad all have high-level office-type jobs, so they're well enough off (and it's a running bit that Brad always has to pick up the check whenever they eat out). Dave is still selling mail-order meat part-time, plus he has his food truck, so he's sort of getting by. But it doesn't look like Alex's boutique "Xela" is doing much business in proportion to what the space must cost, and as for Max... that's in the "best not to think about it too much" category.

Jane the ruthless returns... or rather, she never ever left. And I agree with how great the "gaycist" storyline is. Everyone has biases--doesn't matter if you are yourself a minority, so I like that it hit on that.
