You guys are going to absolutely love the books. I'd love a few posts with your thoughts as you go through them. Chapter 37 of this book is my absolute favorite in the entire series.

Weird Magic

You mentioned wanting to see the older Weasley during the movie - I believe Percy was in there a couple times. Usually he's walking/standing a pace or two behind Fudge's left shoulder.

The killing curse is quick like a gun, thats always been how I saw it. The Audio books are a great listen as im sure youve read many times. On Audible you can listen to Stephan Fry read them and I think they're great.

I really enjoyed that reaction! The next book is my favorite of the books - it mixes so much that I love about the series in one book and gives such incredible depth and backstory to a few of the villainous characters that the movie just can't quite scratch the surface of and sets up a relationship I enjoyed more in the books than in the movie - and while the movie does it justice in some respects, nothing hits like the book for me! But I'm curious to see your reaction. Don't know if anyone mentioned it but it's actually Umbridge in the books who sent the Dementors to Harry at the beginning of the movie because she didn't like him "telling lies" about Voldemort being back. Just to make you hate her a little bit more. Mrs. Figg hasn't been seen but she was in the earlier books. She's a Squib (like Mr. Filch) which is basically the opposite of Muggle-born. Instead of being from non-magical parents and being a witch or a wizard a Squib is born to magical parents but doesn't have magical abilities so they know about the wizarding world but more often than not chose to assimilate in the Muggle world like Mrs. Figgs. Now that you've seen the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, a loose end has been tied up that you mentioned during your reaction to The Prisoner of Azkaban - during the battle you see a bunch of things overturned and blown up and knocked down and one of the things completely destroyed (but isn't mentioned in the movie) are the Time Turners like the one Hermione used. So that plot hole was tied up. It is maddening that this is never fully explained in the movies but is revealed to Harry in this book but Professor Trelawney (Emma Thompson's character) is actually the one who made the prophecy (and why she was hired by Dumbledore to protect her) which was overheard by someone else who (and I won't tell you who until after the next movie because that's when Harry finds out in the books) then told Voldemort and that's how Voldemort found out that it existed but he obviously could never get his hands on it nor did he feel he needed to hear it in full before because he thought killing Harry would be enough and also because he could never step into the ministry. Curiously, the prophecy did not explicitly point to Harry. Two boys were born in July to opponents of Voldemort that the prophecy could've been alluding to and Dumbledore reveals this to Harry when explaining the prophecy: Harry and Neville. But Voldemort himself decided that Harry was the bigger threat to him for reasons that are also clearer after the next book/movie and thus "the Dark Lord marked him as his equal" - this wasn't Harry's destiny, but rather Voldemort engineering his own downfall by choosing Harry and thus ensuring that Harry is his nemesis. Because if Voldemort hadn't given the prophecy credence he wouldn't have murdered Harry's parents who wouldn't have died protecting him and thus making Harry an orphan and thus making Harry want to bring Voldemort down and do it himself. But it's interesting to note that Voldemort only heard part of the prophecy - he only heard the "one with the power to vanquish the dark lord approaches" he never heard that he would "mark as his equal" and thus transfer some of his powers to "the chosen one" if he attacked. And because the prophecy was destroyed only Harry, Dumbledore (because Trelawney told the prophecy to Dumbledore), and the person who told Voldemort the half they heard know its contents. Trelawney, strangely, actually has no memory of the prophecies she makes...
