related to your comment about rickman's portrayal of snape and how . . . dramatic he is, emily mcgovern has a whole comic strip series called my life as a background slytherin that uses this to amazing effect. she usually describes snape's movement as a flounce, so now that's how i think of it too. here's an example of the strip - i wouldn't go looking for more yet because some contain or refer to things that are a little spoilery, but you should definitely enjoy them after you finish. https://www.instagram.com/p/CdasTFFIGMy/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

I think the difference between Harry and his friends and most of the other kids at the school is that the other kids generally follow the rules and don't have other wizards trying to undermine their existence. Harry and co are prone to going rogue to save themselves or each other whereas the other kids might do pranks or rule breaking inside the grounds, normal kid behavior, but the reason Hogwarts is dangerous for Harry and his friends is a combination of factors that are not applicable to the rest of the student body. Most students avoid the whomping willow or the shrieking shack, wouldn't have heard the basilisk in the walls, wouldn't have been been targeted by Quirrell, and a bunch of other things that will happen to Harry at school over the course of the series. It's a dangerous school, as magic is dangerous, sure, but it's more dangerous for Harry due to many factors both out of his control and due to his hero complex in many cases and his sense of loyalty and bravery in others.

Very well said. Love that Harry is a risk taker. He definitely does have a hero complex. Luckily it's worked out three times now
