Lol you're so right with the "You're a misogynist for hating this female character" and "You're a simp for defending this female character" dichotomy

Weird Magic

Originally airing on April 12, 2015, 'New Business' is Episode 9 of Season 7 of Mad Men. It is the 87th episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 7.8, placing it as the #14 ranked episode of this season and #77 out of all the episodes shown so far.

Wait, so this is the worst ranked of S7? I thought it was pretty good, albeit more casual with Peggy and Megan's plots

heheheheheh

From Mad Style blog: "No one needed us to point out that Megan's dress she wore to the meeting with Harry was the dress she wore at the beginning of this season to pick Don up at the airport in Los Angeles. At that time, it represented the height of California sexy chic, but here it looks desperate. She doesn’t have the money to update her wardrobe as often as she did when she had access to Don’s money. When they were married, she rarely repeated outfits and almost always sported something entirely new every time she appeared. Now? She’s last year’s style. This works further as a way of reminding us of the history these characters have with each other. The basic style of the dress, including the accordian-pleated sleeves, calls to mind the famous “Zou Bisou” dress, the original wearing of which prompted Harry at the time to go on about how much he wanted to have sex with her; a wish she overheard and which has always been the basis for her longstanding dislike of Harry. Patterns repeating. Old sins coming back to haunt." When I first watched this season, I felt very much the same way about Megan and her mother's actions as you guys do. Still do in a way. But Don did treat her very very poorly. She allowed it , yes, and stayed for way too long, but she did give up her career for him (but of course she also got it thanks to him). Now she's a bitter, albeit rich, divorcee. Notice how the bitterness runs through these episodes, first with Ken and now her. Someone also pointed out that she didn't smoke when she first met Don, but gradually started to do it more the more anxious she got about their relationship.

Wow, I never noticed the smoking tick. That's spot on. Yeah he did treat her poorly just seemed very petty. Although her pettiness is nothing compared to how he treated her.
