As a first timer too, I enjoyed this episode a bit less than the previous ones this season. The wit and banter were still there for me in the interactions between Leo and CJ, and Josh and Donna. However, I do wonder whether the writers are missing it a bit with both Josh and the President individually. For example, some of Josh’s lines are a lot less witty and are more generic. (The “You want a piece of me?” line made me cringe.)

For sure. They seem to be taking some big swings at this point with some of the characters, and I'm still kind of wondering where they are going with them.

Josh is so lucky to have Donna (and Ryan) they were so supportive. The next two episodes are my favourites of the season so can't wait!

I love that he has them. He's got so much support and he's not alone in this. Knowing Josh I can only imagine the pressure and stress he feels.

I don't think its highlighted enough in these episodes, but I'm glad you mentioned the first lady's absence. The rift between them and her being gone is a bigger part of this rough patch in my mind than the show spends time on in these episodes. I do think this run of episodes you see the rough edges as the new show runners find their feet and get a sense for the characters. Leo especially just feels out of character for me in these.
