Thanks for suffering for our entertainment. I haven’t watched this since theaters. I was always anti horror. I watched Scream and some of the slashers in high school at home in broad daylight. I had a friend who dragged me kicking and screaming to see The Others in theaters prior to this and I enjoyed it so I had gone down a deep dive of classic horror after that, Exorcist, Omen, Amityville, Poltergeist. Seeing this in theaters after those classics was a let down, plus the jump scares in this really got me. Rewatching it I appreciate how well made this is. Plus I recognize way more of the cast now since I don’t think I was familiar with any of them in 02. Believe it or not VHS still has it’s uses for movies that are not available otherwise and for those of us with nostalgia that want the old commercials etc.

I love all those classic films. This movie was a great combination of homage to those old films and Japanese horror. Love the use of close ups. Love the long takes to really make you suffer. Really liked this one.
