Okay, wow, so when this originally aired I absolutely hated it. I thought everything about it felt wrong, the dialogue was off, the look was off, everything was off. There had been a lot of attention paid to the fact that this was the start of the post-Sorkin era, and a lot of early reviews were pretty critical, so maybe I was influenced by that (I was 18 and was probably a lot more susceptible to that kind of thing), but I was ready to hate it when it aired and so I did. I've avoided rewatching most of season 5, aside from a few episodes I remembered liking okay, so this is my first time seeing this since the fall of 2003, and...it was fine? Good, even! The occasional thing still bugged me, and I'm never on board with super shaky camera work, but I'm feeling a lot more open-minded towards season 5 than I have in a long time. There are some stand-out bad moments I remember from different points throughout the season, so it'll be interesting to see how I feel about those episodes or scenes when they come along. I was coming to it originally as a big fan of Sports Night and The West Wing, so maybe the (to me) lackluster quality of Studio 60 and The Newsroom cured me of my Sorkin-mania and I can watch this now without that getting in the way.

There's a lot of movies for me that I hated on first watch and loved on second viewing! I like it when this show switches it up so I'm up for whatever!

Am I the only one who can barely hear the guys? Low levels have been an issue for quite some time but now I can barely hear them on my laptop, ipad or phone. Doesn't matter if I try through the internal speakers or using ear buds, I've got the volume at 100% and it still hard to hear...

We could be a little low on that episode. Some shows are louder than others so we adjust as needed

I feel like I'm one of the few who really loves season 5, especially the start. There are some episodes that are so good, two different ones I ESPECIALLY think might be some of the best in the series. I never noticed the change of no Sorkin because I think the events require a tone change in themselves, they are going through a crisis and I think it was adjusted well and it's not like people are back to normal after a traumatic event. The plot gave them the time and cover to adjust without Sorkin. I think you guys will enjoy the rest of the season and there are many episodes I'm excited for you to watch!
