I'm not sure how realistic it is that they were able to switch their landing site to one near the pole. Landing on the poles is especially hard even when the mission was planned for it from the beginning, and if they entered a roughly equatorial lunar orbit in the first place (which all the real Apollo missions did) it would cost a ton of fuel to change their trajectory which I wouldn't think they'd have the margin for. Great episode, just a little nitpick I have as someone who's played a lot of Kerbal Space Program.

I had never heard of that Virginia Slims ad campaign, so that “You’ve come a long way, baby” line from Ed always went over my head. Thank you for shouting that out - it sent me down a Google rabbit hole, and now I have even more appreciation for the writing on this show. This is part of why I love reaction videos - no matter how many times you’ve watched something, there’s always a good chance that watching it with someone new will unlock fresh details and perspectives that you never would have discovered on your own.

I am sure you are right. Part of the fun of the show is the cavalier "throw caution to the wind, we are pioneers!" attitude, but certainly planning of Apollo landings was incredibly precise, down to every drop of fuel needed for a particular launch.
