Head's Up: We didn't really like the first Joker.

I hated the first movie but I also love Lady Gaga so of course I will see this. It might be a trainwreck or a good movie but I'm sure at the very least it will be entertaining.

I'm also in the Joker-was-overrated camp. I was in high school when it came out and despite how hyped my MCU-bro friends were for this, just from the trailer it felt like Oscar bait. As for the film itself, I appreciate that it looks cinematic but it has an aura of fake-deepness that bothers me. I think a lot of people love it for punching above its weight, but ultimately to me it doesn't even seem like the film itself was interested in exploring anything, it just touches on vague ideas and feels a bit jumbled. It seems some people did connect it to personal things in their own life which I'm glad for, artistic mediums should do that, but to me it felt like a generic story disguised as an artistic one. I also felt the same thing, it's to impress people who haven't seen Taxi Driver. As for the sequel, I think making it a musical and having Lady Gaga be Harley Quinn is kind of funny in its jarring post-meta surrealism sense. Plus the premise of being focused on two people and their relationship is a lot more focused than the first one, so there's potential that it'll have something worth thinking about.
