Tout = grass = snitch (as in, snitches get stitches). Well you can imagine that touts during The Troubles received a lot worse than a couple of stitches... You've heard of the band Supergrass, right? They do the outro song at the end of Hot Fuzz. https://youtu.be/LDc4cxdAbDU?si=LIplBICgzABalQnu Well I believe the term "supergrass" was coined for informers that testified in a series of high profile criminal trials against terrorist groups.

"Alright" is probably Supergrass' most famous hit:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUE4oDunYkc

They also call Emmett a “Provo,” which stands for Provisional IRA, meaning the violent arm of the IRA, deemed a terrorist organization by the British government. So carrying a Provo over the border would have been illegal. Also, they are caught in the middle of the parade with rosary beads and a St Brigid’s cross hanging from the rear view mirror. So the Orange Order would have known they were Catholics. You also see the Orangemen giving the British version of the middle finger to the family. It’s the index and middle finger gesture (reverse of a peace sign). This gesture goes back to the English cutting off the fingers of captured French archers at the battle of Agincourt, so they could no longer pull the string of a bow. It’s their version of “F you.”
