Frieren did say demons are descendent of monster who cry help to lure people so seems like they did evolved. And they do reproduce, they just don't care for their child and abandon them after birth so there is no familial concept.

On the subject of Demon physiology I'd also like to add that I don't think Linie was a child or even that young, I'm pretty sure she is a full grown demon. I've read up to the most recent chapters of the manga,and I'm struggling to think of a single female demon that has been introduced that wasn't small or petite, the only one I can think of is the one that Flamme killed in the flash back and I'm only assuming that they are female based on their voice, they could be male with a feminine sounding voice. So I'm thinking that female demons tend to look more like Aura and Linie in general and are just much smaller than the male demons on average. Going back and looking at the most recently introduced female demon, she's shown standing next to 2 other male demons and the size difference is pretty striking. So I think it's pretty likely to be the case, Male demons are larger and female demons are just much smaller on average.

I'm guessing Aura's move "Auserlese" is supposed to be "Auslese" which would mean something like selection or the pick
